IBADAN—GOVERNOR of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi has made good his promises to declare his assets towards running a prudent and transparent government.

It will be recalled that Governor Ajimobi, during his campaign, prayed “God to stop him from becoming governor, if he will get there and spoil the reputation of his family.”

The governor in the Assets Declaration Form for Public Officers deposed at the Registry of the State High Court, Ibadan, before Justice Ladiran Akintola, two days to his swearing-in, said he had no money in any foreign bank.
He stated in his assets declaration as made available by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Dr. Festus Adedayo, that he had cash in local banks, buildings, vehicles, business enterprises and household items.

According to him, total cash in Nigerian banks was N292, 432, 107.00.

The governor also declared that he had “a mansion in Ibadan worth N250 million, another building in the same city worth N150 million, and one with the value of N300 million in Lagos, as well as a detached house worth N300 million in Abuja.”

He declared also a flat purchased through mortgage financing worth N450, 000 in the UK, another worth N1, 950,000, purchased through mortgage in the UK and a house worth $1,500,000 in the United States of America.

Similarly, Governor Ajimobi declared that he owns a 131 acres of farm land in a village at the Ido area of Ibadan worth N150 million, two Lagos-based companies; Grandex Nigeria Limited, worth N200 million and Network Petroleum Nigeria Limited, worth N260 million.

Governor Ajimobi also stated that the total worth of all his vehicles was N94.25 million and household furniture, which include generating sets and electronics. These, he said, was worth N25 million.

His wife, Mrs. Florence Ajimobi, according to the form, possessed a house in Ibadan that was worth N15 million and another in Lagos worth N250 million.

Whaoooo. FP. Only those who have something to hide will find this noble precedent set by Pmb a difficult thing to do. Everyone of us must put pressure on our leaders in all levels of government to do the same.

Thank you Pmb for making yourself a role model.

We have to start somewhere.

But if I may suggest, it is better we make asset declaration a criteria before a candidate is approved to run for election in Nigeria. By so doing only those who meet the condition will be allowed to be voted for in any election.

Tinubu claimed to have done same in 2003 during the withholding of LAG LG monthly allocation by their current Chief Navigator - OBJ.

When Late Musa Yar'Adua finally released the money, Tinubu collected it back from Fashola, 100%

Ajimobi why ?

Mr. Fayose Peter Ayodele, please declare your assets & liabilities.

How are we sure that some of the properties and assets were accquired legitimately. Although Governor Ajimobi was a rich man before he was the governor, he had some of these properties before he became the governor of Oyo State like the one in the US and Ibadan.
