Nigeria sprint sensation Blessing Okagbare has finally bowed to pressure to represent the country at the Brazzaville 2015 All Africa Games in Congo. The athletics events of the Games begin on Sunday and the national squad departed Abuja for the East African country on Thursday. Nigerian athletics was plunged into a major controversy on Wednesday after the Athletic Federation of Nigeria denied the reports that the National Sport Commission had banned the multi- talented United States-based runner from the Rio 2016 Olympics. The reports claimed the NSC had decided to omit the Commonwealth Games women’s 100m record holder from the Rio 2016 national athletics squad after the 26-year-old opted out of the 200m event of the IAAF World Athletics Championships in Beijing, China last month – and the All Africa Games. England-based Tosin Oke, who had earlier withdrawn from Brazzaville 2015, also expected to compete at the Games.
