Tax consultants have been barred from assessing and collecting tax revenue on behalf of the federal government. Acting Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) Babatunde Fowler, announced this in Abuja on Monday when he met with members of the Joint Tax Board (JTB). He said that consultants will be engaged by the FIRS to gather data only because the agency has under 1,000 staff..
