Liverpool host Blackburn Rovers at Anfield this Saturday, 15.00 GMT.

     Rafa Benitez and his men have been the top speculation of the EPL for some time now, especially since their massive victory at Old Trafford. Presently they are 2nd on the table, and only a point behind United. Interesting too to note that they are higher on GD, so this game is one with huge implications for them, with respect to the Prem title.
     A win will either keep them nipping at United's heels, or take them above the defending champions. Much better options, compared to a loss.
   However, Liverpool are currently assessing the fitness of skipper Steven Gerrard after he aggravated a persistent groin problem during Wednesday night's Champions League defeat by Chelsea.
     The England midfielder, who had surgery on his groin in the summer, underwent a scan today to asses the extent of the injury but he could miss Saturday's Premier League match against Blackburn Rovers at Anfield. We won't know for sure till the results of the scan are out (NL reporters at Anfield will keep us updated) 
     If he doesn't play, his absence will most likely affect Liverpool's performance negatively as they tend to rely heavily on both Torres and Gerrard.

     Blackburn Rovers have got an impressive injury list.  .  .striker Jason Roberts, Pederson, Santa Cruz, Grella, Emerton, and Reid. Pederson, Santa Cruz and Grella are expected to be fit for Saturday's game though. Here's hoping they don't go to Anfield with slumped shoulders.  .  .Scousers can be beaten after all, right?
