Clovis Acosta Fernandes, one of the most iconic fans in world football, has died at the age of 60. Fernandes, usually seen clutching a replica of the World Cup trophy, had adorned TV screens around the world for a number of years as he followed his beloved Selecao around the world.

According to Globo, Fernandes died after a nine-year battle with cancer.
Fernandes, who was also known as 'Gaucho da Copa', attended over 150 Brazilmatches across 60 countries and seven World Cups. The image of Fernandes wentviral on social media last summer following Germany's shock 7-1 defeat of the host nation in the semi-final.

Fernandes left his job as a pizza restaurant owner, with the permission of his wife, to dedicate his life to following Brazil around the globe.
