The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) is currently investigating the alleged human rights violation of a lady motorist and her family by a convoy of the Nasarawa State Governor, Alhaji Tanko Almakura, along Lafia-Akwanga road.

Earlier, the Nasarawa State office of the commission had received a complaint on the matter and a team of investigators have since interrogated the complainant and her sister who was driving along with her when the incident occurred.

The commission is presently expecting response from the alleged violator and the Nasarawa State Governor’s team any moment from now.

The Executive Secretary of the commission Prof. Bem Angwe has assured that the incident will be given prompt and thorough attention adding that all parties involved will have an opportunity for fair hearing.

Prof Angwe called all parties that the commission is in the position to address their complaints in line with its mandate.

According to him, the commission will be firm and fair in resolving the issue including inviting them to assist the commission for thorough investigations.

He implored Nigerians to follow lawful channel in addressing their grievances to the commission as Prof Angwe admonished everyone to be law abiding to stem the tides of human rights violation in the country.
