Within five years Pinterest has recorded 100 million active users every month. And these are real people with single accounts and not like the clones on Facebook and Twitter where there are many duplicate and fake accounts, because one person can have up to 10 different accounts on Facebook and people also create fake accounts for themselves and celebrities who are not even active on Facebook. There are more fake Facebook accounts of Genevieve Nnaji than the keys for all the rooms in her house. Even Facebook has a page claiming to be former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and a very popular fake Facebook page claiming to be Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG). But Pinterest has more accountability, credibility and transparency than Facebook and Twitter. That is why Pinterest users shopping online spend more than users of Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. And majority of the users of Pinterest are more educated than majority of the users of Facebook and Instagram. Less educated people seem to avoid Pinterest. But that does not make Pinterest elitist or a snobbish social media hub where users communicate with pictures only. Anyone who can communicate with pictures and videos can use Pinterest. On Pinterest, image is everything! And lest we forget, Pinterest is not a social network site. No gossip, no idle talk and no sharing between users on Pinterest, but you can share your pins on Facebook and Twitter.
