Saraki was wrong for acting against Party Supremacy. In the United State, the vice president is the Senate president.
In Congress in United State, the party leader of the majority party automatically become the speaker. Even before the election, everybody already know who the speaker will be should democrat get majority or should republican get majority. In the united state, the president automatically become the leader of the party

In UK and Europe the party leader of the majority party automatically becomes the Prime Minister.
in china, the Communist party select the premier and other leaders.

Party supremacy is very important in democracy.

We should also remember that if a government fail or succeed, no one remember the senate president. History only remember the president.
We all hear of Clinton, George w bush etc. Who talk about the senate president?

Today in Nigeria, all we talk about is Jonathan. Nobody talk about David mike anymore. The reason in democracy all over the world, the ruling party push to have the majority in the senate and house rep is to make it possible for the govt to succeed it is vision for the country.

Without the 44 democrat who supported Obama in the senate, the Iran Nuclear deal would have required a veto. With veto it means the next president can easily cancel the deal.

Who would listen? Everybody wants to do what he thinks is best, instead of following the rule guiding democracy.

Greed, Bigotory, Selfishness and tribalism is what we practise in our politics....

Anybody who is against the principle of party supremacy knows nothing about democracy. Argueing against it further exposes their level of ingnorance.
Democracies, all around the world, are built on the platform of political parties. The composition of the government and parliament is dictated by the leaders of the ruling/dominant party. It is their prize for securing electoral victory.
