Yes it is gone if the tear from the flex can initiate a line or bars from the screen. But the flex removed down can be fixed too with soldering iron.

might be the inverter or Backlight.

If you look into the screen and see white lights while hitting on the screen gently , then it may be a power or inverter problem. If there is no white light as you hit the screen then it's a Backlight problem.
