engaged in 51,251 mobile number porting
activities in July.

This was contained in the `Incoming and
Outgoing Porting Activities of Mobile Network
Operators’ report. The report showed that
there was an increase of 9,039 in the Mobile
Number Portability (MNP) activities in the
month of July, in contrast to 42,212 activities
recorded in June.

It said out of the 51,251 porting activities
recorded in the month under review, 22,539
were incoming porting activities, while 28,712
were outgoing.

The report indicated in the outgoing table that
telecommunications giant, MTN Nigeria,
lost19,314 subscribers to other networks
through the MNP activities in July.

According to the report, MTN is the worst-hit
during the exercise, followed by Airtel Nigeria
which lost 4,047 customers in the month under
review.

It explained that Globacom lost 3,290
subscribers, while 2,161 customers of Etisalat
Nigeria ported to other networks in the period
under review.

In the incoming table, the report showed that
Etisalat enjoyed the exercise the most as it led
with an additional 14,125 customers on its
network in July.

It stated that Airtel came second on the gainers’
list, as it added 6,613 subscribers to its
customers’ strength.

The report stated that on the gainers’ list, 951
subscribers moved into the MTN Nigeria’s
network, while Globacom gained 850
customers in the month under consideration.

The exercise was flagged off on April 22, 2013
by the NCC with the aim of deepening
competition in the industry.

I will soon join the porting party as MTN made me to spend 6 hours trying to re-register my sim and the later sent me a message that it was not successful. Should they maintain their threat of disconnecting me, I will port as I cannot suffer because of their incompetency.

If mtn dares to send me those their revalidate sim again, I will port.
A customer focused network should hv deployed their staff to go door to door, office to office.
But what do we have; long queues with their plenty shakara.

Nonsense.
