President Muhammadu Buhari has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to rescuing the Chibok girls alive and unharmed.

The President gave this assurance on Monday in his address to the 70th United Nations General Assembly in New York.

While acknowledging the threat posed by Boko Haram terrorists to sustainable development in the West African region, President Buhari condemned the sect’s murderous activities perpetrated under the cloak of religion.

He detailed the action taken so far by Nigeria and its allies in the Lake Chad Basin Commission to rout the insurgents, and called for a global strategy towards defeating the terrorists.

The times were not the same as at when the statements were made. You can easily say Jonathan was optimistic because Sambisa was still under the control of Boko Haram when he made the promise.

The Nigerian Army, we were told, have captured both Sambisa and other Boko Haram hideouts and in the process, rescued victims in droves.

Anybody who can promise to still bring back the Chibok girls alive, should be arrested and tried, to ascertain if he is in custody of the girls or just being a liar.
