Three men dressed as female suicide bombers riding on a tricycle Thursday evening killed unspecified number of people and injured several others at Sajeri area of Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state which has been the hotbed of Boko Haram's insurgency. One of the suicide bombers alighted from the tricycle and ran into a mosque with explosives strapped to her body. She detonated her bomb, killing many in the process. When sympathisers gathered at the scene, the second bomber detonated her explosive device among them. However, the third one was not lucky as some courageous youth broke her legs before she could detonate it. After breaking her legs, people kept a safe distance away from her while she was trying to detonate her bomb. Eyewitnesses account says when security operatives got to the scene, they were able to identify the suicide bombers as men dressed in female clothes. Boko Haram has resorted to targeting civilian population after its fighers were said to have been dislodged from areas they occupied in Nigerian territory. Meanwhile, the military which issued a statement this evening through its spokesman, Col. chocolateme: I'm tired of all these their nonsense, no one can really say if these bombings actually occur or they just keep deceiving us on the other side. Anyway I'm sure this whole stuff is political & the Northerners know what is going on, why don't they bomb in the North-West (Sokoto, Kebbi, Jigawa, Katsina, Zamfara)  Probably cos the Sultan of Sokoto is from that region & there are many top northerners from there I guess. Na dem sabi last last sha, thank God everyone I know is safe! Make God continue to keep dem safe as well, that's all dat matters  1 Like |
