The Producer. If you find it difficult to believe read the Auteur Theory. Very related. |

In naija, the credit undoubtedly should go to the producer. The.mewlimgs by most of the artist are just fillers. With a dope beat and a catchy chorus plus some luck you'd blow big in naija-remember Sean Tizzle? |

I give it to producers. You hardly hear any of them with good lyrics. Na gbugbu gbagba u go dey hear and they sabi shout "baby o" en. Na beat we dey dance |
Re: Who Deserves Credit For A Hit Song, The Music Producer Or The Artiste? by delectablegyal(f): 9:34pm On Nov 03, 2015 |
The producers of course. S.tupid nigerians like to hear party tracks, if ur song is like dat of adele, then be sure u will nvr come into limelight. Producers mks dance beat and the artiste just say anything as long as it rhymes with the beat. |

247notire:I concur...... As an artist, I say major credit should go to the producer because, no matter how hard you work on a song and imagine it to be, if your producer doesn't do a good job, your track ain't going nowhere..... most of the wack songs you hear, its not because the artist is wack but because the producer is still a learner so credit for hit songs should primarily go to the producer. for those who don't write their songs, next in line should be the song writers then the artists come last..... |

not just producers but Executive Producers ..Producers do the primary work but without exec.producers, records turn out to be thrash..check great labels like cash money of birdman and Eme of banky w You see Exec.Producers are the main thing in hits..He understands the flaws during recordings and assists the artists in Lyrics and production wise.. but at the end of the dy,the artist jut carries the day |

In Nigeria the producer should get 96% credit. Most songs here are just about one idiot saying the same whack lines over and over on a nice beat. |

as a dope dj, credits go to the producer. frm a party jam POV, there are loads of famous shitty songs i dont play during my show just because i find the beat crappy and half-baked. songs like olamide lagos boys or whatever raggae blues by harry song duro tekno. etc but songs like olalakeside elugushi spender, efejoku LIL kesh woss wobi cdq olamide. etc are sure to a party go gaga... frm a general pov, artistes and singers i can doff my hat to are adele 2face lil wayne chris brown burna boy. etc i salute these artistes for their vocal and lyrical prowess and ability to blend in any type of beat. tell me the reason why you love adele 's songs so much? yeah i guessed right - her sweet flexible voice coupled with top-notch lyrics. when "hello" came out, i wasn't even thinking or anticipating what the beat would sound like. and i can sure as hell listen to her songs even if its beatless... why do i love lil waynes songs so much? his ability to deliver ridiculous and funny lines.. not that i give a shit what his voice sounds like... |

Producer..... In many occasions av been in a studio, I saw how useless some artist can be. The producer at some point will take the voice by 3 statement each until the write up finished. Meanwhile Kbass studio is running a promo. You can produce your next hit song with Cubase 5. Just 5k per session. Call 08030745141 |

It all starts from the Lyrics, without it being penned, there won't be any hit at all... Then the producer, without any form of expertise it won't become a hit. Then the marketer or promoter, without hype, it won't be a best-seller. So I believe, it is when they all play their parts well, such music becomes a hit-banger... |
Re: Who Deserves Credit For A Hit Song, The Music Producer Or The Artiste? by herald9: 6:52am On Nov 04, 2015 |
Well, the whole process is systematic, one can't do without the other. But in Nigeria, I think the producer does more cause their lyrics are nothing to write home about. Unlike their western counterparts who can turn a frizzy beat to something worthwhile with their d.ope lyrics. Try that in Nigeria and you'll be practically dead on arrival... I once tried to make my uncle listen to one rapper called HOPSIN, he told me his beats are not catchy so he doesn't have time to waste. Hmmmm... In Naija it's the beat bro! |

Re: Who Deserves Credit For A Hit Song, The Music Producer Or The Artiste? by Awaja(m): 7:07am On Nov 04, 2015 |
The inputs of producers can not be over-emphasized, but to be candid, the dicey and hectic job and manipulations are done by the artists themselves, it takes a good versatile artist to do justice to a production (basis) ,the sound is useless without proper lyrical expressions from an artist. |
Re: Who Deserves Credit For A Hit Song, The Music Producer Or The Artiste? by kullozone(m): 7:08am On Nov 04, 2015 |
silvermania: Don't conclude yet bro. There are a whole lot of us who loves good music in naija. I also think if a Nigerian comes up with something similar to what Adele does she/he would make waves because that's not what people are used to down here. It'll be different from the normal naija beat which would probably shoot the artiste to limelight. |

auntytecky:nah it doesn't really work that way for top artists, which is why it's like there lake never dry..most time producers will come up a with a dope beat with a chorus Idea penned down or recorded on it as a sample, then send or invite his/her artist of choice down to the studio to take over the vocal part. note: I'm a producer as well. |
