emmatok: How? Greedy Nigerian imported the cheapest shyte truck. Customs allowed it into the country. FRSC did not check for proper operation. Driver must feed family so even though the dashboard is lit with fault codes like a xmas tree he has no option but to drive. I know you're looking for me to join in blaming the driver but I can't as its more complex than that. Nigeria failed all the actors in this life drama. |

EgunMogaji: Believe it or not, that truck even though old might have been in use and in full compliance before it was shipped to Nigeria. I know that road (Palmol rubber estate road), for over 25 years now, it has been a death trap and it is a state highway. |

sonnie10: Not in the USA. They get these trucks from auction yards. Operators use the newest rigs here because it saves money being more economical and easier to pass stringent safety inspections. Not yearly but potentially daily inspections by police officers. The only way this truck was in use was probably on a private site. I got a delivery of sharp sand on my site in Nigeria and I looked at the inspection plate (it's there if you know what to look for) and the last year it was inspected was in 1999. We have bad roads, a sad maintenance culture and this recipe for disaster requires extreme change. Trucks are not funny business, very dangerous and the general population requires protection from them. |

ucluiz:. The way that part of the highway is constructed is tricky, pron to accident. First it is narrow, windy, single lane, sloppy and believe me the deep topography by the sides of that road could be distracting if not nauseating for drivers with fear of height. Drivers need to exercise more patience on that part of the road. And more caution signs should placed there too. |
