The Nigerian Army wishes to confirm an attack on Sector 1 of 27 Task Force Brigade located at Gaidam, Yobe State, yesterday Wednesday evening. The attack was successfully repelled by the troops and the reinforcement sent.

The troops killed most of the attacking terrorists and destroying their weapons and equipment. However and regretfully too, we lost 3 soldiers and some equipment during the encounter.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai who was on operational visit to North East, personally visited the troops location, assessed the damage done. He warned the officers of the unit that such ugly incident should not be allowed to happen again.

The COAS also drove into the town and further assessed damage by the terrorists and gave further directives to the troops for the defence and improved security of the general area. He also met with some of the community leaders and Idris Aloma Polytechnic staff where he assure them of their safety and improved security. The situation in Geidam is now calm and people are going about their normal businesses.

Several people were killed, properties destroyed, food stuffs carted, diesel siphoned and military equipments damaged in the Geidam Boko Haram attacks. You should wail too if you are truly a patriotic non-partisan Nigerian

The Nigerian Army have our prayers and supports always.

I will enjoin the Military to embark on an aggressive technology drive in their operations. While money can procure arms and ammunition; human live is invaluable.

Continue matching of insurgents with human force will only make us susceptible to further, avoidable, collateral damages. The Military should change focus to modern technologies and reduce reliance on brawn powers.

So many suggestions have been proffered on intelligence gathering on this platform and many others. Intelligence gathering should include identifying the ultimate motivations behind insurgents actions. Developing effective means of diluting these motivations in the minds of potential copy-cats.

The Military should employ the services of professional psychologists/thinkers/sociologists who specialize in scientifically handling adverse social trends.

Soldiers should be drawn to computers and modern electronic gadgets. People are already sending live information from other planets to their country on Earth. Managing our small God-given portion of the Earth should be taken more seriously with modern techniques.

One of the deceased soldiers, alfred jameson was my childhood friend back then at alaba. RIP bro. We will neva forget the name 'sojaboy', tho he dint like it. He said its derogatory in military environment.
Chatted me last week on whatsapp and told me how they almost fell to the ambush of the BH bois. Though he said they managed to escape, but that d pressure on the military by the BH bois was getting too much in yobe. He also added that every soldier keeps at least 2 bullets for themselves shud they fall into the hands of the insurgents. I asked him what they kept the bullets for. He said ' so as to shoot yourself, make this guys no use you do youtube video come still kill you join'.
