From Uber competing with Bolts & Indrive, Lagride prices - Every app wants more riders and Drivers

Drivers competing for Trips on Indrive - leads to unfair price because people have different reasons to take the trip

This is similar to when MTN first came to nigeria when Sim card was 100K even as at early 2000s then Airtel, Glo and the rest came to beat telecommunications and subscription prices down by competition.

Honestly, it makes sense for Nigerian drivers’ unions and transport associations to stop depending on foreign ride-hailing companies and instead partner with Nigerian investors to create a local alternative—something similar to InDrive, but designed around Nigerian realities and we dump their f*ass once and for all.

One example, when Bolt was trying to gain a foothold, they gave me alone almost 3 million worth of free trips while matching that amount in free trips for anyone I invited as a customer on the platform. That’s almost 6m for me alone, and the program was running lagos wide. And that is just in free trips. Can’t speak on Glovo cos I can get sued back to my village but the money was unimaginable.Customer acquisition costs are crazy. Would a Nigerian app be willing to spend that. I believe that is the problem.

Bolt spending on customer acquisition is nothing new, infact,its normal for a new product coming into the competitive market to spend on advertisement, promotions, campaigns-via various channels in order just to gain foothold.
Afterall,profits can't be made or realized if people don't book rides which is what has been applied over the years thereby expanding its operations into multiple states across nigeria.

In addition,it has broadened its services beyond ride-hailing to include food delivery, corporate transportation solutions among others.

Overall, this pattern reflects a deliberate and strategic effort to build market presence, encourage user adoption, and create a foundation for long-term growth.

bros indrive is better for me. I control price and esp where I want to go. Actually with these higher commissions of Uber is one really earning higher. Their wait time sef dey worry even on d Island.

Indrive is best if u plan well and r patient. Actually if u want to keep it moving and have a high target from 50k above as u mentioned then u MUST need indrive .

That app is a gift and a curse .

God abeg. Why are you praising a N383/Km dashboard with your 2.5L RAV4 and with fuel at N1330 per litre? Holy. Boss, no naw, that's a foul. I understand, you'd claim your car and body, but try add disclaimers so unsuspecting newbies won't think that's a sustainable standard in these times.

And truly, I get that times are subpar, but 20k fuel to net 50k is nothing to be proud of, cause that 131km you drove definitely was more 6hrs, without factoring the time it took to cherry pick all those rides.
This same N360-N400/km was my minimum when fuel was N839, with my 2.4L muscle, talk less of now that fuel is N1330.

Aswear, I really respect your fuel efficiency if that report is accurate. I really do. But you need to optimize your dash. In as much as you believe Indrive is the way and the truth and the life, it won't trump Bolt during surge, especially priority and comfort. At the very least, you should average N500-700/Km

Exactly, you have hit the nail in the head. So us moving to a new platform can they do that? The goal post is tilted in favour of western capital since they pull their valuation out their behind. Nigerian companies don’t have access to that kind of capital. Which is why it’s difficult for a Nigerian company to get where they have. We understand they have spent money, but I promise you we drivers have spent more with the value of our assets and man-hours.

I haven't posted my dash breakdown and lessons so far like I mentioned in my past post, because I took a break so I just dey follow from the background, dey enjoy bants, talks, and even the occasional soft life teaching from Oga Kums . But the things I have been reading lately. Especially this CNG matter, abeg. Go and convert in peace na. for almost 3 weeks now, e remain make person dey see CNG stations for dream.

If you go to a CNG Station and you meat happy CNG users, follow them. But remember the ones that got bitten would not be there. That's how Survivor Bias works.
Just like in world war, planes riddled with bullets that got back to the base were about to be reinforced where they were hit, but that's when someone argued that its the places where there were no bullet holes that should be reinforced. Because the ones getting hit there are not coming back. The people that have suffered the worst of CNG are silent, bitter and probably retired.

So if Installers are better now, install in peace make we hear word.

I am currently installing a 90L right now and by tomorrow, my massive savings on fuel will begin.

With 90L, everyday work guarantees 40 to 50k profit. So I ask again, how much is engine again?? Even better when you know that majority of new installers have no single issue. I don’t care about the worst case scenario if I make minimum of 40k daily.

There’s no emotion in business. Ask yourself, will I risk 1 million naira on a business that guarantees 20k daily? Many people will fly into the business even if it’s way riskier.

Lol indrive with surge beats that, commission considered... Bros 20k to get 50k is good business.. Everyday no be Christmas. This is coming from who don use 30k make 190k b4... And it wasn't Christmas. 20 to make 50k is more than 100% gain, please take some financial classes. That's fair return.

Bought fuel 15,700 and averaged 32.524 and that amounts to 16,824 and minus Uber fees of 5,986 ,I’m left with 10, 856 in profit , started my first trip at 11:29 am ..I’m not complaining ohhh but this shit sucks ..😁 .una way de get am right with this hustle ,hmm I give it to you guys ..everyday reminds me of why I need to exit asap cause hustle like this doesn’t cut it in any part of the world ..Make I never talk the assault way I still face earlier this week ,working for paltry sum ..I’m pissed

I've started practicing this, sometimes i fit drive empty from eko hotel coastal to ajah, Jst to pick good trip... I'll rather drive empty than take 5k to ajah. But unfortunately, other transport unions get unity pass uber drivers.

The truth is, Uber gave the the leverage not really what they spend on add and the rest.

This thing na timing and positioning sometimes... Today i even preferred Bolt Comfort becos the surge was much at VGC today but the traffic on that Lekki epe fit burn car head gasket

So when i'm parked and i see N700-800 per km rides on indrive i dey off Bolt & Uber pick am o. When i see N370 per km on Indrive i off it and go back to Bolt comfort & Uber(to complete my daily Quest). Na make account balance and smile go house be koko

Jst start/set out early, it usually boost morale. So by 10-11am u don make small money/your fuel money. Every other trips will jst be additional and work go don dey body by then
