Tribunal didn't sack Kashamu
Our attention has been draw to some media reports that the Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District, Prince Buruji Kashamu, was today sacked by the Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
We wish to say that this is not a true reflection of what transpired at the tribunal.
Although the tribunal has said the full judgment will be made available on Monday, it could not be said to have sacked Kashamu because, according to it, after the removal of voided votes, Kashamu is still leading with 5,179 votes.
According to the tribunal's findings, Kashamu has 75,856 votes against Dapo Abiodun's 70,677 votes. So how can the person leading be said to have been "sacked"? For who? The losing candidate? We think not.
Besides, the rerun was ordered in 110 out of over 1,135 polling units in the senatorial district.
Certainly, we are going to test veracity of the tribunal's verdict at the Court of Appeal. The tribunal has given its judgment, but it is not the end of the road. That is the beauty of the judicial process.
Signed
Austin Oniyokor
Media aide to Senator Buruji Kashamu

This statement is as confusing as the whole story.
What are you appealing if the judgement is not against you?
Just titled of all these legal jargons that has come to make every process in Nigeria very complicated.

ABOUT THE AKINDES AND AKINBO @ THE OGUN TRIBUNAL

The election tribunal in ogun State has delivered judgment in States and National Assembly elections ordering rerun in some polling units at affected states and federal constituencies including the Ogun East Senatorial district on grounds of irregularities in those areas during the general elections.

The affected elected members have within 21days to appeal the judgment or present themselves for a rerun within 90days.

It is however important to note at this juncture that it was only the APC members who lost in the last general elections that challenged the outcome of the elections at the tribunal while their PDP counterparts for reasons best known yo them kept faith with God. It was obvious that same judgment would have been rendered in the areas won by APC if their results had been equally challenged by PDP candidates.

Now, that the tribunal had established there were substantial irregularities in the elections and on that basis ordered rerun in the affected areas, one can therefore expect similar judgment in the Governorship election verdict coming up very soon . It is therefore the turn of Akindes today soonest it shall come to the turn of Akinbo.

For the Akindes, the appeal option is next before we come to rerun. It therefore means that those talking about "sack" are only ignorant of the legal procedure or simply malappropriating language to decieve the populace that things are moving their own way. Obviously, the people of Ogun have long been expecting reruns so lets keep our fingers crossed to see those who will laugh last since those who laughs last shall laugh best

Out of 183, 541 votes purportedly cast for PDP and APC (PDP: 99,540 and APC: 84,001), it's now 146,533 valid vates having voided a woping of 37,008. The legistmately validated votes now for PDP is 75, 540 votes and 70, 677 votes for APC. Logically, the voided votes greatly out-numbered the existing different of 'just' 5, 179 votes between the leading and lagging contenders. And this (may have) justified the pronuncement of annulment by the tribunal. The rule, perhaps, is that where the number of contentious votes (which legally may be declared null and void) is greater than the different that exists btw the legismately recorded votes of each contender...such a 'greater' number (and politically the areas it was cast) would be the determinant. Becouse should the election be re-run, there's no much unlikelihood that the lagging or the leading contender would not be coasting home the victory.

ABOUT THE AKINDES AND AKINBO @ THE OGUN TRIBUNAL

The 'Akinbo' may not have same treatment with 'Akindes' cos the contents of each case is not same. Among and majorly the xpectations of PDP at the tribunal is that election held in Ogun central be councelled. And now the elections (for state assembly from all Ogun central consistuensies) held on the same circumstance with the governorship is been upheld by the same tribunal. I think, the expectation should still be scary for the Akindes.

Well, the good people have passed and said enough good comments above. I will only add that... Buruji Kashamu is a special being. He will continue to win even if the election is conducted inside Dapo Abiodun's bedroom. Here comes another saga to prove to the whole world that Buruji Kashamu is really the man of the moment, and the true man of the people. Buruji Kashamu is a no doubt a great man. God is really with him... All his enemies will just keep trying but there will never be any victory for Buruji Kashamu's enemies.

I think Kashamu will still win if another re-run is ordered. The turn-out in most re-run elections are always low.

BURUJI KASHAMU: THE MAN TO BEAT!

Election re-run is not a bad judgement in any court of law, it is just a test to reconfirm the strength and authenticity of the initial winner. The case of Buruji Kashamu is not an exception therefore, Buruji Kashamu is a man to beat. While we watch out for this Election Olympic game between the Man of the People, Senator Buruji Kashamu and the agent of Shame, Dapo Abiodun, victory is very certain for Senator Prince Buruji Kashamu because, Almighty God and the Good people of Ogun State are with him. SPBK... Success is certain!
