Someone sent this to me Please Act as Fast if you have the necessaacy qualifications, BRITISH HIGH COMMISSION, NIGERIA The British High Commission has the following vacancy: HCS BAND F COMPLIANCE OFFICER DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS: 11 October 2006 The main purpose of the job will be to carry out methodical and pro-active checks of management procedures and transactions in Lagos and Abuja to ensure full compliance with prescribed FCO procedures. The main duties include: - Liaise with the Financial Compliance Unit (FCU) in London. - Prepare quarterly reports for the High Commissioner and the Deputy High Commissioners in Abuja and Lagos. - Brief on a regular basis the Missions’ Senior Management on all aspects of Compliance. - Making recommendations to the Senior Management regarding all matters of Compliance with-in the missions. - Undertake frequent reviews in Lagos, Abuja, Kaduna, Ibadan, and Port Harcourt of all management procedures ‘at risk’. - Review and co-ordinate the missions’ self-audit modules within prescribed periods. - Liaise closely with the accountants in Abuja and Lagos. - Review regularly the official accounts in Abuja and Lagos. - Monitoring compliance with guidance manuals, FCO audit reports and other instructions issued from post management and the FCO in London. - Carry out initial investigations into allegations/ suspicions of financial malpractice and/or fraudulent activity in accordance with FCO procedures - Other ad-hoc duties as and when required – e.g. membership of Post Management sub-committees, value for money studies. The successful candidate must be trustworthy with a high level of integrity, self-motivated and capable of performing their duties with minimal supervision and must be prepared to work to a strict code of conduct both within and outside working hours. Good IT skills, including word processing, spreadsheet and database are essential. The job is currently based in Lagos, but regular visits to Abuja, and our other out-posts will be required. If the best candidate is based in Abuja the BHC will not be averse to basing the Officer there. Because of the sensitive nature of this job, there are restrictions as to who can be considered for the position. The British Deputy High Commission reserves the right to shortlist only those candidates who meet the strict criteria. This is a full time position. Working hours 0730 – 1530 on Monday to Thursday and 0730 - 1230 on Friday. The job will be graded Band F with a starting salary of N213,860 including allowances (except medical allowance). Non residents will be subject to a 10 % notional tax deduction on the basic salary.
