NE Group Asks Buhari To Caution Yorubas by MayorofLagos(m): 2:50am On Oct 15, 2015
The North East Solidarity Forum has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to caution the Yoruba Council of Elders (YCE) and other groups from the North-West zone their recent threat for self-determination and secession.

The group described as treasonable felony the secession threat by the groups, following the kidnap of former Secretary to Government of the Federation, Chief Olu Falae.

In a communiqué it issued on Wednesday after their meeting, the North East Solidarity Forum accused the Yoruba elders of inciting the general populace, especially the people of the South West region of the country to violence and bloodshed.

Apart from the YCE, the group listed other North West groups that needed to be cautioned to include the Yoruba Unity Forum (YUF), the Oodua Foundation, Afenifere, the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), the Coalition of Yoruba Autonomy (COYA), the Oodua Democratic Coalition (ODC), the Ominira Yoruba Apapo, and the Agbekoya Organisation.

The group said the ethnic dimensions and utter recklessness attributed to the kidnapping of the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation by the elders in the region that are supposed to work with the government of the day and the security agencies to unravel the remote causes of the kidnapping with a view to bringing the culprit to justice must stop.

The communique made available to LEADERSHIP reads in part: “We have gathered here today to critically examine the recent unguarded and unwarranted vituperations that emanated from the Summit of Yoruba Elders in Ibadan, Oyo State and wish to state unequivocally that the threat to secession in the South West must not be taken lightly nor ignored by the Federal Government.

“It must be properly investigated by the security agencies and all actors in the summit must be brought to book”.

In the communique signed by its Co-ordinator General, Usman Abdulkadir the group reminded Nigerians of the situation of Boko Haram that has ravaged the North East and the various kidnapping taking place in different parts of the country.

The group wondered whether the Yoruba Elders would have threatened to secede if the kidnappers of Chief Olu Falae were an Igbo or from other tribes in Nigeria.

The communique stated: “We believe the threat of secession by the Yoruba Elders has a hidden agenda which must be unravelled urgently by the security agencies because of the weighty nature of their statement

“We know that if any region is to make such call, it should have been from the North East due to the ruin the region has witnessed in the last four years.

“A call for the breaking of Nigeria by a section of any individual or groups is a treasonable felony and there is no exception to what happened in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Urging the president to caution the Yoruba elders and others groups, the North East group said, “While we condemn kidnapping or any act of criminality by any indidual in the country and in any part of Nigeria, we want to use this opportunity to call on President Muhammadu Buhari to use all available means to protect the unity, oneness and integrity of this great country Nigeria.

“Nobody is above the law and no tribe or ethnicity can threaten our corporate existence without being called to account for their misdemeanours. The YCE should not be an exception”.

“We know that if any region is to make such call, it should have been from the North East due to the ruin the region has witnessed in the last four years''......Who ruined North East? Is it not their children who they refused to educate or are the insurgents. southerners? If the North East calls for secession, will be very glad to let them go and withdraw military presence from the region and allow Boko Haram boys who happen to be their sons to make minced meat out of them! It will be cheaper for us if they secede!

Us man Abdulkadril, The Chairman of Fulani Herdsmen and the two touts recently presented as Chief Falaes abductors should be arrested and charged as bokoharam. The two boys should be publicly executed in the glare of the youths in Ondo State at Akure Stadium. The boys should be shot or beheaded ISIS style.

It's a question of time till everyone answers their Father's name. No nation so designed ever made it to the beam of civilisation.

Any nation whose constitution was designed to hush in the voice of a referendum in this modern times is primitive and sinister.

The Yorubas were absolutely in the right take such when threats of outright self determination when one of its respected elders was kidnapped and subjected to such height of disregard to old age and humanity. They have every right to threaten those who abuse, denigrate and insult their leaders.

The North has always struggled to keep this lopsided arrangement forever since its the ONLY way it could guarantee their political relevance and eventual survival.

But all that will change very soon. The current system is pro North, and all necessary means within the confines of reason and legality MUST be deployed to extricate ourselves of people who contribute almost NOTHING to the national account BUT have managed to perpetuate their leechery!

grin now come to ask yourself ,

2 regions absolutely believe that they can survive on thier own, south east and south south.

2 regions absolutely believe they needed the ss and se for survival.

The north and south west always believe d zoo is sancrosanct .

The north claim to be agricultural base of d nation which is d biggest lie, the major food in d south is garri made from cassava , which is produced here in d south, d second most important is rice which highly imported and lowly produced also in south, yam is also produced heavily in d south, palm oil, ..... D real thorns in d flesh in dis nation is d north .my question to dem , d crude oil in d south comes to them freely without dem paying a dime but thier littlle agricultural comparative advantaged product is been paid for by d south ..it does not come to d southerners for free..

this is a useless country... events has shown that we can never be united even if Jesus becomes our President as long as we still live among these Fulani people with byzantine and uthman Dan fodio mindset.

why is everyone especially the northerners clamouring for unity. why why why .. is it a crime or natural disaster if this country is divided into three or four. yes it would be a natural disaster for the north especially the Fulani angry who see Nigeria as their God given gift to dominate and exploit. that's why the northerners control almost all oil wells, that's why a daughter of atiku would call others commoners, cause they are stealing daily from the south.

the southerners needs to wake up, I repeat again this unity can never bring development in this country, as its a unity by coercion and not agreement

How can they leave nigeria when they can't even question the authority of the north? So instead, they go after the igbos; the only tribe that pays taxes

This town crier of oshodi has been running his mouth for a few weeks now, one would imagine he has recorded a single conquest against any Hausa Fulani settlement and that a Fulani King does not rule over Yoruba land today. Fool you should be ashamed that a few adolescent Fulani's abducted someone of Falae's standing in his farm manned by dozens of Yorubas who most likely fled or even handed over the terrified chief to his attackers themselves.

My friend your ilk have evolved from running from battles to colluding with your own oppressors if you have not noticed. Just shut your mouth.

Nobody is saying you should not defend yourselves, but empty chestbeating and careless remarks will ultimately bring your downfall politically and militarily. Just ask the ibos.

Half of their poulation is homeless, refugees in camps. Thats a more pressing issue than Yoruba. They need to worry about resettlement for IDPS before worrying about Yoruba.

I can understand their sentiments about keeping the nation one. If the nation separates where are they to find resource to rebuild? Chad is dry, Darfur has its own problems, Somalia is in turmoil. Their only respite is oil. So we feel their annoyance.
