The Rivers state governor, Chibuike Amaechi has
attributed the deplorable state of the Port Harcourt
international airport to the negligence of the
Aviation Minister, Stella Oduah, who he said
“abandoned the airport”.


“I have gone to the President and told the President
that because of the disagreement between Chibuike
Rotimi Amaechi (who is not Rivers state) and the
president, the minister of aviation has abandoned
the airport.”
The Governor went further to state that the airport
would be easy target for terrorists should they think
of bombing it, adding that “we survive by the grace
of God.”


He accused the minister of impounding his plane
“for no reason” and that the aircraft was grounded
because of his disagreement with the President.
“The minister of aviation is reckless for that,” he
said.
Similarly, Amaechi has also accused the minister
of being the stumbling block which has not allowed
his administration put in place certain measures
which will benefit the state.


“We paid for two helicopters (surveillance
helicopters) that would fly around Rivers state (and
detect crime) including oil theft and report real time
to police, air force, army and the government
house” but “she refused the helicopters from
coming”.
“They are there in America and the government of
America has been wondering why we don’t want to
take our plane and the President (of Nigeria) is
aware”.

well at least they have an airport some third world countries can rarely boast of 3 airports speak less of a worse state's own.....#proudly naija...

I don't believe you tag our clamouring for Oduah's removal as a minister as 'calumny'. Oh...so u mean we should have overlooked her buying two cars at a cost of 300MILLION as a mere joke? LMAO, if it were to be in a sane country...she would be resting her yansh in jail now.

Haven't of passengers complain that the aircooling system is not functional? Haven't you seen pictures of the Enugu Airport being flooded during rainy season? Haven't you seen the Yola Airport's roofing sheets blown by wind?

PH Airport is a disgrace to Nigeria.

An airport where International arrivals land and are herded into overpopulated tents where some busy body customs and general hangabouts harass you.

After that you are herded into a fenced cage where local pickpockets and hustlers are gathered around in their hundreds, just waiting around for one oyinbo man to venture out that cage so they can hustle him. God bless him if he has no local to pick him up from that airport. They will hustle everything he has before he gets to a taxi.

And this is supposed to be an International airport where multinationals and oil workers fly into daily?
