ANGRY MOB RESCUES MAN FROM ARMED ROBBERS IN CALABAR, CROSS RIVER STATE

Calabar, the Cross River State capital had recently been invaded by hoodlums popularly known as Skolombo boys. Their origin was unknown, until a woman simply identified as Eka Akpan [Not real name] spoke to Brainnews NG that the so called Skolombo boys are abandoned children by their respective family members, some are children from mentally displaced people, some escaped from their various homes due to maltreatment.

On the evening of Thursday 22nd October 2015 shocked engolved the entire Goldie street, a street rated as the biggest street in Calabar south, a local Government area in Cross River Sate when two armed robbers were napped down by angry youths in the area.

It all began when a man believed to be in his early thirty (name withheld) had some money worth N300,000 on him after debiting in a nearby bank, unknown to him was 2 armed men going after him for the money. They successfully toke the money from their victim but was immediately interupted by mob in the area which earlier sited the ugly incident. The robbers were tracked down when the tricycle (keke) they came with colided with another vehicle while trying to escape. They were beaten to stupor by angry mobs, along the way men from the state SARS unit stormed the venue, gun shots were fired, the crowd immediately disperse, this lead to the rescue of the robbers.

It was unknown to the crowd who invited the police.

Items recovered from the robbers were two fully loaded guns and a tricycle.

Brainnews NG learnt that the robbers may had died in the evening of Thursday due to serious injuries sustained during the failed robbery attempt.

The police public relations officer in the state, Mr Hogan Bassey has yet to comment on the ugly incident.
