Fayemi canvasses public sector input for prosperity

AGAIN, the national question returned to the front burner yesterday as former Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Chief Emeka Anyaoku reaffirmed that unless she goes back to regional government, Nigeria may be embarking on an endless, fruitless search for meaningful development .

Anyaoku who was chairman at the 2015 edition of the Akintola Williams Distinguished Lecture Series held in Lagos , maintained that Nigeria’s quest to attain full potential in national growth and political stability would be possible only if there is a restructuring of the existing basis of the country’s governance, saying a return to regional government is the way forward.

For Anyaoku, the present structure is militating against the fast development of the country.
Former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi who delivered the lecture titled: Leadership factors and good corporate governance: Key to national growth and development , said that a continued deliberate devaluation of the public sector in order to paint the private sector as very critical to building national prosperity will do Nigeria no good.

Gbam! On point. I said it in 2003.
It will boost the development of each region. If some regions like it, they should be shouting Biafra then while southwest sooner turn to Dubai while another should send all their people to mecca.

Nigeria as a country need restructuring, even the British, US knew that Nigeria will break up one day. UK has 4 countries in it, eg Wales, England, Scotland and Northern Island, then ask yourself why they cannot be one country like Nigeria, USA has all it states operating as a semi independent country, immigration law in Texas is not the same with California, China has Taiwan, Hong Kong, Tibet and Macau as part of China which are all semi independent, without confederation in Nigeria there will be no peace, Nigeria need to go back to Aburi peace accord, Nigeria will never be a progressive country because Nigeria is made up of irreconcilable entities that cannot align, Nigeria is supposed to be made up of 5 countries eg Arewa, Biafra, Midland, Oduduwa and Niger Delta Republic, under confederation just like UK, China, Netherlands etc, Nigeria need this structure for peace to reign.

Nigeria really needs to be restructured, regionalism and resource control is the way to go.

By the way, Akintola Williams Deloitte, the facilitator of the lecture, is the first african to be qualified as an accountant and the first president of ICAN

If we can revert to federalism/regionalism, then what's the problem with breaking up Nigeria? I think the answer lies within the ND area.

Forget about the dirty noisemaking cowardly booty scratching Biafran soldier ants........no one really wants to loudmouthed homo erectus to stay in Nigeria.

We had regionalism before and Yoruba and Hausa people were ok with it, but the ibo head of state back then wasn't so he killed and terminated regionalism and in effect created the current system of government you don't want today.

Funny how ibo people like to play victim and ignorance when in fact they created nearly all the sad issues Nigeria is facing today.

Learn your own history and Nigerian history.

Too bad all they teach you people is hate and not beneficial historical facts and events.

Get your facts right mister. Aresa was 100% correct! It was your brother Ironsi that trerminated regional government.
Anyway, when you see a sensible man, you will know him. Thank God for the likes of brilliant men and women like Anyaoku. The like of Kanu and his senseless ipob member should learn from matured sensible elders like Anyaoku.

Oponu villager. Exactly what's the meaning of Ironsi's Decree 34?

Aguiyi Ironsi on 24 May 1966, with Decree No. 34 ended up plunging Nigeria into a deeper mess and bloodier abyss. Aguiyi Ironsi’s Decree 34 “abolished the regions,” and ended Nigeria’s true Federalism!

http://ends.ng/the-north-wants-true-federalism-restored-and-the-south/

Ibo drew the fist blood in Nigeria with their sadistic blood thirsty slaughtering of Nigerians promarily Haus and Yoruba military and political leaders.

Nigerians and the military looked the for good reasons and still installed Ibo head of state to lead Nigeria and instill fairness and justice, but the ibo head of state happened to be what we now know ibo people to be, very tribalistic and anti Nigeria. He refused to punish the sadistic killers, he did not even slap them on the wrist.

To add salt to injury, he abolished the same true federalism we are begging for decades later in 2015.

Like I said, your forefathers passed on to you only hate and bitterness and never credible history about your own country and existence..

Did you hear anything about marginalization when Jonathan was President? No. Ibos only complain whenever they are not in control. It has always been like that.
When Yorubas asked for restructuring of the federation during the last national conference ibos kept mute, as soon as jonathan was booted out they started shouting Biafra.

Na today? That may probably happen in the year 2095. As years go by, it becomes clearer and undeniable that Nigeria is a country was that destined never to progress.

So the northern military officers who were the beneficiary of Ironsi's blunder should have reversed his mistake?

I truly understand everything you said. This is their flawed and tribal mentality.

When Jona was in power, they were all over the place swearing God Bless Nigeria and even praising our men in uniform all over the place saying God bless our gallant soldiers, but after jona's loss, their love for Nigeria vaporized.

These are historically selfish and self centered people with zero sense of worth and belonging...

The fact that OBJ or other people did not revers it doesn't alter the fact that ibo man abolished regionalism.

Ibo man abolished what ibo people are today clamoring for.

Ibo people shed the fist blood and set Nigeria on a dangerous path straight out of the gates of independence.

You people love to play victim when in fact you are always the culprit..

OK. Since there are still bitterness in the political system of Nigeria, don't you think this contraption should cease to exist cos certainly it was a dysfunctional creation of the British?
