Obiagu1: All these claims and counterclaims are unnecessary really and are highly divisive too. Igbo, Ijaw, Edo claims of towns, communities etc can only be settled in just one senario; success in establishing a nation called Biafra. The Biafra could be an Igbo only Biafra or a Biafra of former Eastern Region plus the Midwest.
How will this settle the problem?
If Biafra is established as Igbo only, any Igboid group that remains behind in Nigeria is not Igbo. Case closed.
If Biafra is established as former Eastern Region plus the Midwest, it has being concluded that the provinces would be organised as thus:
Edo Province (all Edoid groups), Ibibio Province (all Ibiboid groups), Igbo Province (all Igboid groups), Ijaw Province (all Ijoid groups), Northern Province (Igalla/ Idoma), and Ogoni Province (all Ogoni people)
If a community leaves its supposed ethnic family and joins another family, then it ceases to be recognised by all as belonging to its supposed family but to its 'new' family. Referendum for contested communities will be done. This will eliminate the case of a vocal minority claiming to represent the voice of the majority.
Dispute over communities is not unusual for communities with multiple heritage so the bickering seen by peoples of the old East is not surprising.
Everyone should brace themselves up for disappointments and perceived betrayals.
Shalom! If I hear say they'll agree! Igbophobia is real |
