shrimati: I'm not even arguing this. The judge knows that the client's lawyer might very well soon be his boss and might already be open to compromise with his career prospects in mind. Ocholi might be already privy to information that would indict his clients if known to the prosecution. When he becomes AGF, is he just going to magically forget this information? There's no logical way to rationalise this nonsense. |

Leave the believe that lawyers are liars out of here.It takes a smart mind to defend a person accused of any crime.He is one Lawyer that'll make Heaven cos outside his charges, he is a clean guy who is never afraid to take up though cases cos they pay more.He is a preacher of righteousness. |

Sahara Reporters, every person charged with a criminal offense has the right to be represented by a counsel. This right is guaranteed by the 1999 Constitution. This is provided for in S. 36 (6) (c) of the 1999 Constitution. Also the Rules of Professional Conduct 2007 that guides the conducts of Lawyers in Rules 24 has made it mandatory for a lawyer to accept all briefs (clients) that come to him. The state might get certain information from any one as the need might arise for it. The question of is he being objective and seen to be so when such matter arises? So now a Lawyer doing his job makes him a criminal or corrupt? That's his profession and was hire to do a job and defend his client and it's left for the court to decide so no big deal in this at all. |

This is simply another dirty job someone who is eyeing the Min of Justices/AGF slot has commissioned Sahara Reporters (SR) to do. It is shameful that SR will seek to rubbish a lawyer for defending a client professionally. What was Ocholi supposed to do? Administer lie detector test before taking on clients? Lawyers are like doctors, you treat the good, the bad and the ugly. If the lawyers were to start moralizing, then there will be no lawyer to defend armed robbery suspects. That a lawyer is standing in to defend an accused person, who has not be declared a criminal by a competent court of law, does that confirm such a lawyer a criminal not qualified to be a minister?
