What Is Wrong With Africa? by Ibelong2God: 4:52pm On Nov 01, 2015
I was on facebook today and this post caught my attaention. It is worth sharing!

What is wrong with Africa?

Not long ago, an American presidential candidate and business magnate, Donald Trump was reported to have made this statement about Africa;
“Look at African countries for instance, those people who are stealing from the government
and go and invest the money in foreign countries. From the government to opposition,
they only qualify to be used as a cases study whenever bad examples are required.”
He went on to say;
“How do you even trust those who have ran away to hide here at the United States hiding
hiding education? These are people who import everything including matchsticks. In my
opinion, most of these African countries ought to be recolonized again for 100 years
because, they know nothing about leadership and self-governance”.
I’d say that it is not in only in Africa that these kinds of issues that Donald trump raised can be found. But again, when you travel around Africa, you see a people producing the same result of leadership incompetence.
In Africa, when you mention leadership, a whole lot of people’s mindset will go political. This is a gross misconception. Leadership is a virtue required in every facet of human endeavors. The political leaders you see are just reflections of the kind of majority of people you find in the streets or anywhere within that clime.
You find people lacking the basic skills in everyday life but they want to prove leadership qualities in politics, forgetting that one can be a leader as a lawyer or doctor. One can equally be a leader in business, sports and even our respective homes. Some have been meant to believe that there are born leader. This is wrong.
Leadership is not something you inherit from your father. Because your father was a leader as a pilot does not translate that you his son or daughter is automatically a leader in pilot.
Leadership is the capacity to inspire others to positive actions through vision and purposeful living. If Africa is having leadership issues, it means that there are few people who are using their capacity to inspire others to actions through vision and purposeful living. It means there are less people willing to sacrifice personal advantage, comfort and advancement for the sake of a noble cause that impacts others.
Africa is far from being poor. Africa has got a lot of gifted individuals who fail to work together harmoniously on a long term vision and commit with integrity and loyalty to the country or long term vision, because the individuals fail to resonate with them a passion that will inspire others to help achieve the stated goal or vision.
There is no passion because of no clear cut purpose. It is when a person discovers a sense of purpose that it produces passion for pursuing it and that passion inspires others to want to join in the pursuit of fulfilment. This is the single reason why African leaders fail, hence the cause of the little laudable achievements in Africa!
The political leaders have no clear cut purpose and direction hence their failure to inspire the masses for positive actions.
In Africa, you find a lot of schooled but uneducated people. You can be schooled but not educated and that is what a lot of people don’t know. You become literate by going to school and schooled by investing in academic literatures but education is your investment in applied knowledge in your area of calling.
In times past, around 300bc, Africa was leading in education in almost every facet of human endeavors; from architecture to medicine, preservation, mining and smelting. A good number of great philosophers and writers had education stints in Africa. Intellectual development is the key to transformation and high level leadership qualities. Africa needs to recover her educational heritage!
This will have to start from a renewed mindset; a mindset where everybody will walk tall in the comity of nations and stop answering ‘third world’, a mindset where the government will not depend on aids from countries but will seek to develop the human resources within his clime.
Every government should also pass stringent laws to publicity firms and media houses on airing documentaries that depict Africa only as a poverty stricken neighbourhood. These images greatly affect people’s perception of Africa. Africa has got the potentials to be a lending hand to western nations and not just a receiving hand.
Leadership centres should be set up across African nations where practical and lasting principles of leadership would be instilled in the citizenry. Those principles should also be introduced into the curriculum of conventional schools.
There is indeed hope for Africa!

African countries got quick independence n failed to perfect the trade of governance. So many things were not put iin place b4 colonial masters left.

Africa iis still clothed with enormous personal greed! Until loots are invested iin Africa retrogressive flight will persist.

So sad that a Continent blessed with alluring brains end up iin drains angry

The continent's inexplicable romance with tribe n religion needs to be quenched cos iit blinds us completely from reality of life thereby threatening our dear existance as humans.
