We’ll Show Arsenal, Insists Bayern’s Vidal by Mztarstrechy(m): 4:53pm On Nov 01, 2015
Chile midfielder Arturo Vidal says Bayern Munich can prove a point by beating Arsenal in the Champions League on Wednesday. Pep Guardiola’s Bavarian giants suffered their onlydefeat of the season at the Emirates Stadium when they lost 2-0 to Arsenal a fortnight ago in Europe. The Germans failed to convert a string of chances in London as Oliver Giroud and MesutOzil scored second-half goals for Arsenal. Having won their first 10 league games, Bayern then dropped their first Bundesliga points on Friday with a goalless draw at Eintracht Frankfurt.Guardiola’s Bayern are becoming frustrated by their German opponents’ defensive tactics, but midfielder Vidal is backing his team to shoot theGunners down in the return at Munich’s Allianz Arena. “We’ll show Arsenal the real Bayern on Wednesday,” the Chile internationaltold German daily Bild.“This time we’ll use our chances and take the three points.” Despite the defeat at Arsenal, Bayern remain top of Group F while the third-placed Gunners breathed some life back into their European hopes to move off the bottom of the group after two defeats.Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer expects Arsenal to learn from Frankfurt’s success at denying Munich’s potent attack and adopt a similar approach at the Allianz Arena. “Arsenal will have followed the game and will have seen, that defensively it wasn’t easy for us,” said the Germany shot-stopper. “Perhaps they will play even more defensively as in the away game.”Germany defender Jerome Boateng says Bayern were forced to play “like a handball team” in a physical clash against defence-mindedFrankfurt and must improve against Arsenal, who are second in the Premier League table after Saturday’s 3-0 win at Swansea.“We have to regenerate now and do better against Arsenal,” said Boateng. “Arsenal pulledeveryone back at their place and I guess it’ll be pretty much the same again.” Guardiola says hisside need to find ways to unlock their opponents’ defences as they look to avenge their Arsenal defeat.“Our opponents are free to play the way they want. We have to be in a position to attack well,” said Guardiola. “Football isn’t always the way you want it to be.”
