The Nigeria Police Force seems to be spurring for a final showdown with youths calling for the recognition of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), as it has issued a warning that a “planned one-million march is illegal”.
In a strongly-worded statement on Friday, the Inspector General of Police, Mr Solomon Arase, said that the protesters, from the south-eastern region, would be provoking the law if they do not stop such protests or call.
He particularly made reference to the planned ‘one-million march’ for the actualisation of Biafra, which he said was illegal and asked everyone not to participate.
“Information available to the Nigeria police indicates plans by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to embark on ill-advised protests, using dangerous weapons across some south eastern states.
“For the avoidance of doubt, this is unlawful and no one should attempt to test the law,” the police warned in the statement.
He reminded the youths that the law prohibiting the unlawful possession of firearms was still in force.
He also warned against any attempt to unleash mayhem on innocent and law-abiding Nigerians.
He said that anyone arrested in connection with the planned march would be appropriately dealt with.

No dangerous weapon has being reportedly use by IPOB except the police who has killed and made illegal arrest to distort the peaceful mass protest. However, it's the Nigerian police who have a high reputation for killing, torturing and tormenting innocent people. Mr law protector, It's not against the law for people to demonstrate or protest for their social and economical well-being and right to self determination. Ask the UN.
Nigeria should smell the coffee because Biafra is here to stay.. Freedom is won, it's not given.

Those cone heads will never listen. They always seek an opportunity to play the victim card. Rather than retreat, they'll go ahead with the protests, and when someone gets shot or killed in the process, they'll cry, blue murder!

Well, they barely have any gainful activity to engage in. One shouldn't expect any less from nuisances!
Abi which productive igbo man get time to waste?

oh crap.

shyte like this happened in india and south africa.

look at the result now.

we only need to sacrifice a few useless lives in order to move on, and if some people have deemed that they are qualified to perform as the cannon fodder, then, who are we to stop them?

ride on, guys.

The interesting part of this brouhaha is that all these noise makers fuelling the situation are only present on nairaland, facebook, lib etc. It is the jobless ones that are going to take the bullets on the streets.

In another dimension, it is a shame to see that people don't learn from past experience. One could only imagine this was how it gradually began back then and it blew into full battlefront. Maybe it would fair to say Ojukwu had the balls being in the army but what happened afterwards, he fled. I now wonder if it is your Kanu or what is his name that will stand and protect your masses when authority finally clamp down on this shameful act.

If you think war is about sharing TomTom and gala, think twice. Below are outcomes of misguided call for wall...

the protest is for the release of kanu, its not a SE thing and there are no dangerous weapons. Take note

Yes, it is. The riot act states that you must inform police to stage a protest. Same as it is all over the world. In developed nations, you have to inform the authorities. So they can ensure
1.Safety of protesters and non protesters
2. Re-route traffic
3. Provide Ambulance service for people that may faint or get injured as is common
4. Ensure safety of lives and property
5. Monitor protests to prevent a riot and breakdown of law and order that can spread quickly to other zones.
