Golf 3 users in the house! Pls how many litres of fuel will manual golf 3 saloon 1.6 engine use for 100 kilometre journey pls from your experience because I have interest to buy this car but been a student I am afraid of fuel consumption

Boss, golf doesn't consume fuel,2k fuel will be ok for u, am using my 3rd golf 3. Congrat in advance.

About 8 litres. Could be less depending on how you drive, load and topography.

my old nissan Almera with the same year production as that of the golf will consume 8Litres of fuel (Less than 1k) at 100KM. this i have personally calculated.

Since Golf 3 is being used as a taxi along with the almera of the same year range models, i believe they should have a similar range.

What if I told you I could use 500 worth of fuel for 100km what will you say about that. I guess your almera is the N15 1995-1999, mine is N16 2000-2006 but fuel economy is measured differently golf has series of engine variant from naturally aspirated to turbo charged, also the golf will be heavier than the almera so also manual tranny always have better mpg than auto of same variant.

So you look @ what you will be doing for example my standard mpg are
1. city 8.6L/100km so I did use 748.2naira worth of fuel here
2. combined 6.7L/100km I did use 582.9naira worth of fuel
3. Highway 5.5L/100km I did use 478.5naira worth of fuel here
with all things being equal under STP lol.

I never said that isnt possible bro. Actually the 8L was consumed with the vehicle full of passengers, and so much of loads at the trunk. with that much weight I assume the golf cant be as heavy as that naturally. of course i will use less fuel if the vehicle was lighter i.e Just me, without any other passenger and an empty trunk

God I miss my golf mk2 (my first car)...reminds me of my student days back in oau ile ife. parts are available and cheap and must confess fuel friendly too. I bought full tank before I left Lagos and when I got to ife I looked at my gauge and I had 3/4 left...the ride na confirm. I bought it of a company in Lagos at 175k used it for 4 years and sold it after my nysc at Ilorin kwara for 150k to a police officer who was on neck...my mecho insisted that if I bring down to lag I ll be able to sell for around 200k-250k. I miss that ride still in its first body and engine. An EXperience!!

I spend an average of 6k-7k monthly for fuelling (home to work and just one out of town trip....osogbo-Ib)

Golf 3 is a very nice car in terms of durability, fuel economy and maintenance. Wish I can get a good clean one for my business. I'm looking forward to that anyway
