One gambler in Oregon, U.S. couldn’t believe her luck when she put $100 in a slot machine and won an incredible $8 million, but her joy quickly turned to outrage when the casino staff told her she couldn’t keep the cash.

Veronica Castillo hit the jackpot at a Lucky Eagle Casino slot machine but the casino claimed the result was due to a machine malfunction and gave her just $80 instead.

According to her:

"I was very excited, happy. Then I couldn’t believe it. They shut off the machine, took it away, printed out a ticket and gave me $80."


According to reports, the slot machines do have a sticker that says a malfunction of the machine voids all pays and plays. Despite this, Veronica isn’t convinced by the casino’s stance.

She added:

"To me, it’s cheating, may even be fraudulent. My first thought was, how many people has this happened to? They think they won, then they’re going away empty-handed."

Unsurprisingly, Veronica is now working to get a lawyer so she can try and get her winnings through a court case instead.

Now, I'm not big on gambling & I avoid it like the plague, because it's addictive, but this woman should fight tooth and nail and ensure that the casino also pay her legal fees. The casino has got jokes, malfunction my ass, it wasn't malfunctioning when it was chopping her money. They could have paid her the maximum they claimed the machine is allowed to give $20000 or the $6000 they claimed she would have gotten on how she was betting. They could have gone with a smarter approach of also giving her vouchers and comping her stay by upgrading her room and other things, keeping all the costs inhouse. Giving her only $80 after she spent $100 is proper BS.
