A look back of the past brings nostalgia of teenage years of no worries. Years when heavens can be gleamed from the eyes of the youths, when love seems no ending to innocence and accompanying joys that comes with plays and moonlight stories.
A time when the youths feels very certain that their 'time' will come in continuance of good times and they will be called to service of their fatherland. That was when there was a sense of direction and less selfishness in the life of leaders/followers within the entity called Nigeria.

Even when the blood of our heroes past soaked the grounds during those harrowing moments innocent youths still looked up to their parents for succor and assurance that all will be well, they still believed their future will not be mortgaged. However 'events' slipped out of control which eventually brought about many deaths/starvation to a region that has continuously been unfairly treated in the scheme of governance decades after the civil war.

But innocence has now been taken away from majority of Nigerian children whose time offer less hope for all they can gleamed from their parents eyes are disenchantment, frustration and helplessness because rulers have become demons with no limits to kleptomania, greed for power and blood. Hardworking parents couldn't meet basic needs for their families as the system have become an albatross to many a parent whose hope to better the lot of his/her wards have been destroyed thereby their innocence took flights via doors and windows into the nights of uncertainties and darkness where survival at any cost has become the key whilst morality got murdered before puberty. For those parents who weathered the storm some praise providence, the Almighty or hard work but most forever lost their conscience in the continuous rat-race of no scruples whilst the system keeps favoring the rich, powerful and the corrupt.

The balkanization of former regions into states by the military hasn't help in building a competitive, fair and just nation as it should be but has created the very poor and the very rich across the divide in the quest of outdoing one another for control of the country resources whereas the needed genuine development can only be engender through Fiscal federalism, Loose federation, Regional governments or Self-determination as a solution to the imbroglio we've found ourselves. This tribal race eventually led to an abyss of a quagmire resulting in our present day confusion of the polity which further confirmed there 'was a country'.

In order to chart a way forward we must stop behaving like ostriches and accept that an 'ironclad' one Nigeria is not doing nor will ever do us any good neither will it stop the schisms. And unfortunately the younger generation that ought to know better by seeing through the shenanigans of the 'establishments' have become deaf and blind to reason/reality and allowed themselves be continually scammed by politicians' failed promises and fraudulent mantras whilst robbing the geese that lays the golden eggs.

Until Nigerians face reality and speak truth to ourselves the way out of the woods remains uncertain and a country of our dreams may forever be elusive whilst calls/fights for secession will not cease.
