Adebanjo To Buhari : Stop Accommodating Obasanjo by emamos: 7:44am On Nov 16, 2015
Elder statesman and Afenifere chieftain, Chief Ayo Adebanjo has faulted the incessant visits by former president Olusegun Obasanjo to President Muhammadu Buhari in the presidential villa.

Speaking in a chat with Daily Independent, Adebanjo urged Buhari to stop accommodating the former president because he has nothing to offer in terms of advice and leadership.

Adebanjo, who faulted Obasanjo’s desire to continue to rule despite being out of office said the former president ruled Nigeria for fifteen years out of the sixteen years the PDP was in power.

He added that Obasanjo lost out last year when former president Goodluck Jonathan refused to take orders from him.

“On the frequent visits, I don’t blame Obasanjo. What about Buhari himself who is accommodating him, sending him on emissary as if there are no other capable hands in the country?”.

“The PDP ruled Nigeria for sixteen years. Out of that sixteen years, this is a man who failed in his eight years as president yet you are asking him to show you the roadmap, that he is the navigator? What roadmap will he show you? The roadmap that he couldn’t tour while he was in the office?”

“What kind of man will leave the government and still wants to continue ruling the government? He was there as president for eight years. He was there during the time of late Umaru Yar’adua. He was there until former president Goodluck Jonathan refused to take orders from him. Put together, Obasanjo was in office for fifteen years out of the sixteen years that PDP ruled”.

“This is a man whose party wanted to impeach under Ghali Na’aba. They listed all his impeachable offences. He has never refuted them but they only swept it under the carpet”.

“When he was in office, he became so dictatorial that he changed the constitution of the PDP to suit him that whoever wants to be the Chairman of the Board of Trustees must be a former president”.
“If Obasanjo says he is a leader, the media should ask him if he has the quality of leadership. A man whose son told him that he is very immoral. It is in the public eye and Obasanjo never denied it” he said.

APC openly courted and consulted OBJ before the elections and he reciprocated by openly supporting them.
OBJ may not be a saint, but so is Afenifere and there gang of Anti-Tinubu old men.
The fact that OBJ openly supported and embraced Buhari even when he was a chieftain of the PDP is enough reason for Buhari to open his doors. Besides, who else is qualified to advice if not a man who failed.

Quite true.
Obasanjo should display some level of self respect.
He loves nothing more than to be thought of as father of modern Nigeria, an elder statesman but he was not ready to do the hard work and exhibit the discipline to back it up.

Just so we never forget
1. Wasted money on third term.
2. Haliburton scandal, he was commander in thief.
3. His scandalous family saga.
4. Andy Uba and adedibu ran roughshod over elected officials under obj.
5. Umcompleted power projects.
6. The issues over the death of Bola Ige and many others.

Indeed obasanjo should take a back seat if he had an iota of guilt.

Don't mind the confused Afeniferawon elders. Too partisan to be taken serious.

If you ask me of my opinion about this Adebanjo's advice, I'll rightly say it is needless and unsolicited.

PMB is also a retired veteran army general so he knows how to handle his relationship with a fellow rtd general in light of espirit de Corp.
After all you can't just wish away the administrative experience of Obasanjo in the Nigerian political landscape. Gold is gold no matter who bears it.

Journalist should stop confusing the public and feeding the public with lies. There is no Afenifere. The old Afenifere has been disbanded. There last selfish leader resigned in shame few weeks ago. This so called Chief Adebanjo collected millions of dollars from Goatluck Jonascam just like other smart guys all round the country did. The old Afenifere lined up behind PDP against APC. The APC led by the real evil genius, the Jagaban Borgu humiliated and disgraced the old Afenifere and the PDP.

What is Afenifere? Is it the name of a person, animal, place or thing?

When they accuse PDP of wasting 16 years in office and frolick with the man who spent more than half of it. Then you wonder what sort of party APC is. Professional liars and propaganda machinery.

Exactly. Imagine, they call themselves Afenifere and they were canvassing for yoruba to support GEJ for second term. Like our elders say, "it becomes distressing when you expect to meet wisdom and all you see is mediocrity".

All I hear are the rants of a pained man still in shock of his sudden irrelevance. Ebora Owu, like Ameachi, will be the main actors in many PDP members nightmares.

Regarding emissaries...is Adebanjo more experienced than Obasanjo?

Certainly, Obasanjo's tenure did not achieve a lot so on that basis I can say he failed. But to call another human being a failure when he is still alive will be very unwise.

One of the qualities of a good leader is the ability to give listening ear to all opinions even though he has no intention of making the opinion count .PMB isn't a fool to be tossed about
