10 Reasons Why We Can't Wait For The Return Of Premier League... by sojihandsome: 1:14pm On Nov 19, 2015
Football supporters across the land can rejoice at the return of the Premier League this weekend.

After two weeks away due to the international schedule, the fixture list has thrown up what promises to be a number of exhilarating clashes.

Here are 10 reasons we cannot wait for club football to get going again...

STERLING PLAYS LIVERPOOL

Saturday's late kick-off sees Liverpool visit Manchester City, which means Raheem Sterling up against his former club for the first time since his £49million transfer. After agitating for the exit during his last six months at Anfield, Sterling is sure to get a frosty reception from the travelling Reds.

Can he help City inflict a second straight Premier League defeat upon Jurgen Klopp's men?

KLOPP NEEDS A RESPONSE

Klopp could not have a tougher fixture to try and rectify the 2-1 defeat at home by Crystal Palace before the international fixtures.

Sterling taking on his former side will dominate the headlines but a defeat combined with a win for Manchester United would leave Liverpool 10 points off fourth place on Saturday evening.

ARE CHELSEA STILL RUBBISH?

It's quite something when one of your best players describes the season as 'f***d' after 12 league games, but that's how Cesc Fabregas labelled Chelsea's start to the campaign.

Jose Mourinho's side are 16th in the league with 11 points and host Norwich at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. It is a fixture Chelsea will still be confident of taking three points from but Alex Neil will be telling his team that there is not a better time to play the champions.

ENGLAND STARS IN ACTION AT WHITE HART LANE

Tottenham host West Ham on Sunday in what is usually a fiercely-contested London derby. Mauricio Pochettino could, and probably will, deploy Eric Dier and Dele Alli in the centre of the Spurs midfield.

The duo impressed on England duty and have been key to some impressive display. Alli has been particularly eye-catching. His goal for England against France was splendid and he will be full of confidence against the Hammers.

VARDY FIT FOR NEWCASTLE?

Leicester striker Jamie Vardy is aiming to match Ruud van Nistlerooy's record of hitting the back of the net in 10 straight games when his side head to Newcastle for Saturday's fixture.

The forward missed out on the chance to play for England in the latest round of international fixtures because of the hip and groin injuries sustained in the last appearance made against Watford.

Leicester are the surprise package of the season and are third in the table.

CHANGING OF THE GARDE?

Aston Villa, arguably for the first time this season, looked an orgainsed unit when holding Manchester City to a 0-0 draw at Villa Park in their last match before the international break.

Remi Garde takes his team to Goodison Park on Saturday to face Everton. Villa might be bottom of the league but it will be a trickier tie for Roberto Martinez's team that it would have been a few weeks ago when Villa looked toothless before Tim Sherwood's departure.

CAN WATFORD SURPRISE UNITED?

The first match of the weekend sees United face Watford at Vicarage Road in the early game on Saturday. The Hornets have quietly managed an impressive start with the Premier League new-boys 11th on 16 points.

Quique Sanchez Flores and his side have reason to be optimistic of taking something.

ROONEY BACK ON FORM?

After producing a string of stagnant and ponderous displays in attack for United, Wayne Rooney looks like he could be back on form.

He scored United's winner in the Champions League against CSKA Moscow, impressed against West Brom and also found the back of the net for England against France. If he is among the goals on Saturday, the United fans' chants of 'attack, attack' will be answered.

SAINTS ON THE MARCH

Southampton look set for another campaign which will defy expectations under Ronald Koeman.

After a timid start, the Saints are unbeaten in six games in the Premier League and are only four points off the top four.

Their three-pronged attack of Dusan Tadic, Sadio Mane and Juventus target Graziano Pelle have played some exhilarating football at times and they are up against Stoke at St Mary's this Saturday.

GARRY MONK UNDER PRESSURE

Football's fickle nature is perhaps typified best by reports that Garry Monk's job as Swansea manager is said to be in question, despite him leading the team to their highest ever finish of eighth last season, with their points tally of 56 also their highest in the top flight.

But this time around, Swansea have struggled to recapture the flamboyant, incisive play Monk implemented on the team last year. He urgently needs a result this weekend at home against Bournemouth.
