No fewer than 3000 students of Ebonyi State University(EBSU) have been expelled by the management of the institution.
The expelled students, mostly Work And Study Programme(WASP) students, were dismissed due to their inability to complete their programme within the stipulated period and time.
According to a statement signed by the registrar of the institution, Mr.Sam Egwu, the students who were expelled were those that gained admission into the university in 2000/2001 but could not graduate after fifteen years of their admission. The management of the institution noted that the WASP students have five years to round up their programme while the direct entry and regular students have minimum of four years to conclude their academic programme in the school. However, the dismissed students have protested the expulsion, as they blame the school management for the delay.
The protesting students acussed the institution for failing to release their result till date which has resulted to their expulsion.
The affected students also revealed that the only persons that the school had released their result to are the prominent ones among them who had earlier threatened to sue the institution for holding their result, whereas those of them that are 'nobody' have not gotten their result since 2005/2006 they wrote their final examination. The aggrieved students have also threatened to take the institution to court for withholding their result and expelling them at the same time.

Why should one spend another xtra year in school after writing his/her final xams? Why wouldn't students be allowed to enroll for service immediately after their final year,& stop piling them in batches that will lead to backlogs? Govt should look into this ooo
