The People’s Elephant of Aba got their cheque presented to them today at the Teslim
Balogun Stadium a week after winning the league.
Representing the team was Captain Chinedu Udoji and Ezekiel Bassey who received the
cheque from the League Management Company Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko. The
presentation was done at half time during the Federation Cup final game between Lobi
Stars and Akwa United.
Enyimba won the Nigeria Professional Football League trophy getting 70 points from 38
games.
The winner of this year’s GLO nigeria Professional Football League got a whopping sum
of 30 million naira cash prize which is twice the amount Kano pillars got last year for
winning the league.
Speaking exclusively to soccerblitz.net, Chinedu Udoji attributed his side’s success to
God and promised to work harder as the team plays in the CAF champions League next
season.
“First of all, I want to give all glory to God for winning the league, It is not my might
but God gave us this league and am very happy and proud to lift the league trophy after
finishing second to Kano Pillars last season. ”
“We have to work harder next season, for the past four/five seasons no team in the
league has gotten to the group stages of the CAF champions League, we have to work
hard to achieve that and with the quality of players we have in our squad, we can make
Nigerians proud.”
The cash prize for the Nigeria Professional League increased tremendously for the past
three seasons, Kano Pillars got 1 million naira in 2012, 5 million naira in 2013 and
eventually got 15 million naira last year for winning the league title.
