A 2-year old baby girl was said to have died of suffocation after being left inside a car by the mother in Olateju, Mushin area of Lagos, Nigeria.

The careless middled-age woman reportedly left her 2-year-old daughter inside a car at a party today Sunday 29th November. According to a source, the woman, who is a tailor, was said to have attended a freedom ceremony (a ceremony held after the completion of apprenticeship) of an apprentice of a fellow tailor.

The close source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, further revealed that the 2-year old girl was just recovering from an illness before this sad incident occured.

He said: “Her mother took her along to a party, laid her in the back seat of a car and was partying, and after some time she went to check on the baby only to find the baby laying unconscious on the floor of the car. She was rushed to the hospital and before they got to the hospital, the baby had died.

“The baby must have died of suffocation. This is so sad, I still saw the girl this afternoon,” the source concluded.

Angry neighbours, while expressing their sympathy also expressed their anger towards the careless mother. They said she should be seriously dealt with for being so careless.
