This year’s United Nations annual summit on climate change is currently ongoing in Paris. The summit is titled ‘Conference of the Parties, (COP21)’ and Vogue magazine decided to feature the 13 women attending the summit. The women featured includes Nigeria’s Minister of Environment, Amina Mohammed.

Explaining the importance of the summit, Mrs Mohammed said:

“When people have made up their mind that they want to fail before they start, that’s the hardest. Because at risk are millions of people, and they matter.”

“In Africa, you don’t just think about the children that you bear. Every child is yours. It has come together as the perfect storm to create situations that have fueled Boko Haram, the terrorists that live in my part of the country.” But, there is hope, she added, “I think we’re getting nearer the light at the end of the tunnel.”

Following the feature, model Kendall Jenner shared Amina Mohammed’s photo on her Instagram page and urged her over 41 million fans to follow the Minister on Instagram.

“Vogue Magazine photographed 13 women who are fighting climate change right now at the #cop21 in Paris!” Kendall Jenner wrote. “Help raise awareness and follow @Aminamohammed as they work to end poverty and climate change.
