We have some players in the line up that are capable of doing a good job.
It will be a good game!

Re: France(0) Vs Nigeria(1) On Tuesday 2nd June by Jarus(m): 9:18am On Jun 02, 2009
Players in camp as at Monday night: Joseph Akpala, Omatsone Aluko, Vincent Enyeama, Oluwaseyi Olofinjana, Sam Sodje, Elderson Echiejile, Dickson Etuhu, Onyekachi Apam, Olubayo Adefemi, Yusuf Ayila, Bamidele Aiyenugba, Sani Kaita, Nwankwo Kanu, Austin Ejide, Osaze Odemwingie, Obinna Nwaneri, Yusuf Mohammed, Ayodele Adeleye, Danny Shittu, Obinna Nsofor, Kalu Uche, Ikechukwu Uche.

Still being expected(as @ Monday):Joseph Yobo and John Mikel Obi

This is obviously Nigeria's best injury-free legs, save the absence of Taiye Taiwo.

If Yobo and Mikel make it to camp, I will like to see this team against France:

- - - - - - - - - - -Enyeama- - - - - - - - - -

Yusuf/Apam - - Yobo- - -Adeleye- - - Echiejiene

- - - -- - - - - - - - -Ayila- - - - - - -- - - - - - - -

- - - - - - - Kalu Uche- - - - - Mikel- - - - - - - -

--Ike Uche- - - - - Akpala - - - - - -Osaze- - -

NB: Akpala appears to be our only centre forward in camp, so no choice.

This team is definitely a laughing stock, compared one on one with the French side, but football is not played by individual name.

Many people appear pessimistic here, and that is very understandable given SE's performance against even minnows, but I still believe anything can happen, and even if France will beat us, it wont be a massacre, maybe a 1-0 or 2-1 win. I'm no believer in SE but I know this can be a platform to re-launch their image in international football.
The last high profile victory SE recorded was in 1998, over a decade ago, against Spain. Since then we had become a laughing stock in even African football, losing/drawing against teams with no pedigree in word football, like Uganda,Angola etc.

In any case, win or lose, we will have something to reference in the next few years.

Nigeria can not defeat France though it is a friendly match Nigeria team ( if we have)will not put in their best so be rest assured that the best we can do is to play draw.

Hmmm. Predictions, dreams, pre-ejaculations everywhere. If we all watched the double header btw France and Luthania, some of you will reconsider your doom-spelling predos.

Go our SUPER EAGLES

If I didnt know you, I would have assumed that you are related to one guy thing  on sports thread known for negative predos against *well you know which club*. . .but you are clearly following his its path.
None of your predos has ever come true. Relax my guy. 7-1 na cricket match dem they play?

Lithuania narrowly lost to France. Thanks to Ribery. We are miles better than the Lithuanians.
One things is certain, the SE are not expected to win. The pressure is on France and Domenech.

Re: France(0) Vs Nigeria(1) On Tuesday 2nd June by Sagamite(m): 11:46am On Jun 02, 2009
My preferred team list 4-3-3:

Vincent Enyeama (GK) - I guess in the form of his life at the mo. It is a pretty tough thing for a goalkeeper to be voted best player in a country by media and fellow players.
Joseph Yobo (CB) - Obviously the most high profile and experienced defender.
Ayodele Adeleye (CB) - Preferred over Shittu who has not played much recently. He was a God in the Olympics, I will even go as far as saying I think he will be a Great in the future.
Onyekachi Apam (LB) - he is primarily a CB, secondarily a RB but because their is no one worthy of playing LB (no T.Taiwo) v France on the list, I will trust him to do it. He was also brilliant at the Olympics but the performance of Adeleye just overshadowed his goodness.
Olubayo Adefemi (RB) - Only RB on the list good at going forward, but I warn, he is suspect defensively. Just think of TT but without the TT attacking prowess. The rest I don't think will do anything attacking-wise and will only defend. I will cover Adefemi's weakness by choosing high quality DM that we have.
John Mikel Obi (DM) - Please don't use this guy as OMF. He is excellent at this role.
Dickson Etuhu (CM) - Omo jand is back in form. Complements my two-prong strong defensive midfield. Attack should come from the wings and a good support striker/midfielder.
Nwankwo Kanu (OMF) - Make we no make Baba run too much, just pass him the ball to shield and distribute. Bros, god bless you. We could go more defensive by putting in Kaita from start and Kanu as impact substitute.
Ikechukwu Uche (WG/SS/FW) - One of the roving 3 upfront. Keep on interchanging positions with the other 2. One of our best dribblers, so I will expect him to be the source of disruption.
Osaze Odemwingie (WG/SS/FW) - One of the roving 3 upfront. Keep on interchanging positions with the other 2. Always reliable and gives his enthusiastic best, also a good goal scorer on his day.
John Utaka (WG/SS/FW) - One of the roving 3 upfront. Keep on interchanging positions with the other 2. Seems to be a little bit back in form and found his hunger, the national team needs hunger.

Very attacking team. Best I could come up with based on what we have.

"Subs ref":

Austin Ejide - Seems to be the preferred choice and has not really put too much foot wrong.
Danny Shittu - Alternative CB with a lot of hunger.
Obinna Nwaneri - Can play RB incase Adefemi is messing up.
Yusuf Ayila - Good as CB or DM, so in case we want to move Mikel forward if Kanu is not functioning.
Kalu Uche - Good attacking midfielder, although primarily a striker.
Obinna Nsofor - Impact player to replace any of the guys upfront. Most likely Utaka.
Joseph Akpala - Consistent and reliable goalscorer. Averaging almost 1 goal every 2 games, although this is in the Belgian League.

Others not used:

Bamidele Aiyenugba
Sam Sodje
Yusuf Mohammed
Oluwaseyi Olofinjana
Elderson Echiejile
Omatsone Aluko
Michael Eneramo

But where the hell is Chinedu Obasi? Why is he not there? That guy can be the soul of the team.

Re: France(0) Vs Nigeria(1) On Tuesday 2nd June by drossy(m): 12:33pm On Jun 02, 2009
its going to be typical amoudu, hustle d first few minutes, because he has told d boiz not to mess up (his only strategy),then break down, its now up to the players prowess!!, which wont last long!

siasia showed nigerians the power of strategy and team work, now, nigerians wont go less!(unless, your name is sani lulu and you work in a glass house)

Henry ain't playing, oga. Don't worry, I'll be watching the game with Utaka. . .if I doze he'll wake me. cheesy grin

@post
My Osazee and short man Uche are the only players on that team with any form of drive and determination. Dunno about Kanu. . .letz hope Amodu doesn't keep him benched for the entire 90 this time around.
If we're going to lose, we should at least lose honorably. grin 2-1 won't hurt if we can't obtain a draw.

Let's forget sentiment and face reality. I'm a true Nigerian but let's face the fact. Nigeria will loose the match.

let's put patriotism aside,I don't see the eagles beating les blues, but I'll regard anything less than a 0-3 loss as a good result for us.

Nigeria's friendlies have been soooooo boring. I couldn't bare to watch the end of the match against Ireland, i felt like dozing.

France is not even in the best of form, just as Super Eagles. Its going to be a game to watch, but i hope Ahmadu gets his

tactics right to secure a win-(if possible).
