Our world is characterized by trouble. Problems real and imagined plague the human heart. While men speak of, long for and even pray for peace, it is an illusive shadow unless found in the application of God's Word. "There is no peace, saith the LORD, unto the wicked" (Isa. 48:22). This is repeated and expounded upon in Isa. 57:20-21-- "But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt." Solomon likewise declares, "The way of transgressors is hard (rough, as soil unfit for cultivation)" (Prov. 13:15). The world has not achieved a true ground for peace among nations, among individuals or within the heart.

Christians have everlasting peace with God through personal faith in Jesus Christ (Rom. 5:1) and are able to know the reality of the peace of God (v.7). We can be "careful (anxious) for nothing" (v.6) through believing prayer and true thanksgiving. Now, dear friend, consider the question from another angle: Who is sane--those who leave all to chance and speculation or those who take the Lord at his Word?

Reason Why Christians Are Not Crazy

In Acts 26:19-24 Paul is called "mad" meaning crazy. In another place Paul is said to be "beside himself" meaning "to rave as a maniac." Down through the ages, true Christians have been labeled "crazy" . Jesus was labeled as crazy Mk. 3:21 and John 10:20.

Not Crazy- Unspeakable Joy.

See 1 Peter 1:7-8. Though the world may call us "crazy", the text teaches us that we can have "joy unspeakable" in the midst of trials. See 1 Cor. 1:23-24, 2 Tim. 1:12. The Christian's confidence is placed in the right person.

Not Crazy-Unsearchable Riches.

See Eph. 3:8. Before calling us "crazy", consider the facts. Everything we need to satisfy every yearning of the heart is ours in Christ. When we trusted Him, we received Spiritual riches beyond measure. God will supply our needs, "according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus" Phil. 4:19 The reason the world thinks we are crazy is because they cannot see what we see with the eye of faith.

Not Crazy- Unbounded Peace.

See Phil. 4:7. A multitude would agree with the proposal that Christians are crazy. Yet God's Word clearly indicates otherwise, assuring us that it is Christians who have unspeakable joy, unsearchable riches and unbounded peace--"peace...which passeth all understanding." Facing disagreements among his friends at Philippi (v.2), divisions among the believers at Rome (1:14-17) and the added possibility of his own death, the apostle, nonetheless, took the time to explain to his readers (including us) the secret of victory over worry--being at peace in one's heart.
