American businessman and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has provoked a storm of controversy by saying that Muslims should be banned from entering the United States. Trump said in a campaign statement that he was calling for “a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on”. “We have no idea who is coming into our country, no idea if they like us or hate us,” Trump told supporters in South Carolina.
