AFTER 13 months of nursing a knee injury, former Falconets
Captain, Gloria Ofoegbu is now heaving a sigh of relief after
successfully undergoing sugery at the Reddington Hospital in
Lagos.
According to Rivers Angels media Officer, Jessica Amadi, Ofoegbu’s
surgery was facilitated by a Port Harcourt based businessman,
who brought in surgeons from the United States of America who
diagnosed her of ‘Meniscus tear’ and a ’Grade IV Chondral
Damage’ to her knees.
The defender who suffered ankle injury at the Namibia 2014
African Women Championship, may never play football again as
doctors have warned that due to the lateness of the surgery , her
chances of returning to active football is slim.
It would be recalled that Ofoegbu was accused of nursing a
chronic right knee injury for five years and arthritis according to
reports written by Super Falcons’ doctor, Omoye Akhigbe and
team physiotherapist, Adaku Nwachukwu.
Meanwhile, the Rivers Angels left back, has appreciated media
houses and sports writers in the country for the role played in
ensuring that her injury problems were brought to the lime light.
“I give glory to God for the success of the surgery and with the
assurances from the Doctors, I will be back on my feet soon.”
said Gloria after a Church thanksgiving service on Sunday.
