I read with utter dismay, the recent ban on biafra 'promotions' on nairaland. Prior to this, I held the originators and moderators of this forum in high esteem, seeing them as brave warriors harnessing technological savvy to combat the age long ignorance of the black man by promoting a spirit of open and uncensored debate to enlighten uninformed minds.

why ban the intellectual discussion of Biafra? Do you think the idea was generated by the hapless and frustrated youth you see on the streets on ipod demonstrations?

The sacred ideology of biafra dates its birth place in island of Hispaniola in the 1700s when the oppressed African slaves rose up in rebellion, fought and succesfully defeated and drove off their white european masters and established the republic of Haiti. The whiteman subsequently deceived their leader -toussaint l overture - on a pretended peace conference, and imprisoned him; just the same tactic, with subsequent African leaders such as Jaja of opobo, Nana of Itshekiri, Oba of Benin, who were all deceptively kidnapped and exiled from their people.

Since that day of the succesfully Haitian revolution, the international order controlled by the whites have conspired to keep Haiti down, whereas Dominican republic on the opposite side of the same Island is allowed to flourish. All this is to oppress the mind of africans with the myth that the black man cannot flourish on his own.

It was on this recognition that Haiti was among the first to recognise Biafra, as the 2nd indigenous black African movement for black self determination. All other african or black countries in this world to (except the perennial ethiopia) are the concoctions or fabrications of whites.

Is nairaland not aware of the constant calls for sovereign national conference to decide the Nigerian national question, of which vested interests in the nigerian project has been frustrating?

Is their any Nigerian who doesnt know that the country needs fundamental restructuring to work?

Dont we all know that open discourse will lead to cross fertilization of ideas and pave way for peaceful change; but suppression leads to violent expressions?

When Scotland wanted to secede from UK , did the British govt roll out the Military to quash the agitation ?

Nairaland should not rest on its oars. Rather than become a pun of political forces, it can choose to raise its standards, redesign and continously optimize the user interface by incorporating more features. Nairaland should continue to restore the dignity of the African. Give Nairaland as a better Nigerian Answer to Facebook.
