and this thread is not meant for lido players!!

i always say super eagles will always be super so long as the right thing is done at the right time!! over the years we missed out in tournament we should have gone or done far better

this is duely to the fact the coaches aint up to the task!! foreign or not!!  However i must say the super eagles just after Westerholf doesnt need to go for a foreign coach!! There are individual that can handle se mainly siasia

The problem with nigerians is everybody claimed to be an expert to any issues, hence u can always picture that in nl, they talk damn too much shit hahha!! I wasnt particularlly surprised to see the amassement of some individual on the recent good and outstanding performance by the super eagles!!! splendid!!! to those that know what football it is!! maybe if it was in world cup semi-final or something the doubters would have something to say.

From day one it was obvious that siasia should be the man of the job, cuz what Amodu is doing now is what siasia could have done, but in a suitation whenever there is a game u have your coach calling on all the big bench sitters in the world, then u wonder what is the essence of havin a coach that cant even boast of new players in his so called 22 man squad!!l

once again supereagles has shown their true colour!! now amodu obvious challenge is the selection of a perfect team!!

super eagles desperately need fresh legs !!

the days of yobo, utaka, mekel etc having automatic shirt is over

From now onwards if Amodu is ever gona be serious, he should be doing the right thing!

third, the next match is against kenya in abuja, amodu shouldnt only be looking for a win, he should be looking for 4 or 5 goals in the bag

the following match is against tunis, they should be looking for a win

them after that, the se should look for revenge to ghana black star, we need to beat them back

when all the above is meant, i cannot see spain declined super eagles a friendly match, they should be taken seriously even england will be compelled to come out from the hide

Ikpeba wants Mikel, Yobo, Taiwo dropped guardian 4-6-09

FORMER African Player of the Year, Victor Ikpeba, thinks that the absentee big names in the Super Eagles friendly against France on Tuesday should not be considered for selection against the Harambee Stars in Nigeria's crucial qualifier against Kenya on Sunday.

Nigeria defeated France 1-0 in Saint-Etienne, but Ikpeba told goal.com that he was left very unhappy by the conspicuous absence of John Mikel Obi, Joseph Yobo and Taye Taiwo. According to Ikpeba, who was at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard in Saint-Etienne to cheer the Eagles to victory, "the coach needed them for this match, but they decided to stay away on some flimsy excuses.

"They should therefore be left out of the match against Kenya because already, the other players are complaining. We should expect these players to bring the team together rather than divide it. They did not need to play the game but at least be around the team.

"Several of France's top players were part of the team - Thierry Henry was there and Nicholas Anelka, who played in the English FA Cup final last weekend just like Mikel and Yobo, played this match."

Ikpeba, who featured for Nigeria at two World Cups, was full of praise for the players against France. He said: "Ikechukwu Uche was fantastic, he ran both wings and was always dangerous. His brother, Kalu, was equally impressive.

"Overall, the team created many chances after a nervous start. Once they took control of their nerves after 20 minutes, they grew in confidence. It was great to see (Nwankwo) Kanu playing very well behind the top striker.

"The confidence in the team is very high and they should win easily against Kenya on Sunday. And with the same fighting spirit, who says they cannot also win in Tunisia?"

We've regained our confidence — Osaze

Super Eagles’ midfielder, Osaze Odemwingie has said that the team have regained their confidence back after Wednesday’s 1-0 victory over France in an international friendly match at St Etienne

Osaze Odemwingie

After being held to a 1-1 draw by Ireland last weekend in London, the Nigerian team gained a psychological boost ahead of Sunday’s 2010 World Cup qualifier against Kenya, with a stunning win against the 1998 World Cup champions, a result that Odemwingie, feels has placed the team in a vantage position when they confront the Harambee Stars at the Abuja national stadium. “We have certainly regained our confidence back given the way we played the last two friendly matches against two strong sides and we are confident of putting up a convincing performance when we play Kenya. It is a tonic to beat Kenya”, said the former Rennes’ star, who attributed the shock win against France on determination and team work.

“We won because we were determined and played with the intention to excel. Everybody worked hard for the good of the team and we were good as a team”, Odemwingie added when he spoke on Brila FM.

His view was reinforced by former Nigerian central defender, Taribo West, who was impressed with the display of Kalu Uche in the midfield, adding that Mikel Obi was going to find it hard to displace the La Liga exponent.

“The game plan was okay and on target. We were so commanding against a complete French team and our boys played a solid game. Although Mikel is a vital member of the team, but Kalu has stepped up his game so much that there is now a struggle between him and Mikel.

“Credit must be given to Shuaibu Amodu for getting the right blend that produced the right spark, which helped us to contain the French and if we play like that against Kenya, we would win convincingly”, added West.

Well for me i think Mikel,Martins,Taiwoshould not be allowed back into the team.

Groom the boys that played against France + some local based players and i bet

we will go far if we qualify for the World Cup.
