A statement by the Army spokesperson, Sani Usman, said the Shiite members barricaded the road Army Chief, Buratai's convoy was passing with bonfires, heavy stones and tyres. They refused all entrities to disperse and allegedly started firing and pelting the convoy with dangerous objects.
According to the twitter user Engr Abdulqadir (@DanTaraba) who shared this photo, the Army pleaded with the Sects for about 20 minutes but they refused to open the road for the Army convoy to pass through.

A friend drove pass that road hour before the incident of COAS happened on his way to katsina. He said the road was barricaded and they had to talk their way through.

He also confirmed they just started the road block then and were not violent.

The fact that they opened fire first is enough reason for the NA to defend their boss. Though the shites have claimed peace.

When you contront the Army of this great country with violence, you should be promptly dealt with in kind! This is the kind of treatment which should be meted out to lawless and violent folks from the North, the Creeks of the South, or foolish youths in the SE.
