bail is money given in exchange for one's freedom whilst a case against the person runs its course in a court of law.the bail money is normally returned at the end of the trial.it is assumed that whilst the court has the accused/defendants' bail money in their(court's) possession,it will act as a guarantee that the accused/defendants will show up in court.
