It's with a heavy heart I write this today in honour of a great man Lt Colonel AbdulHakim Salami who died yesterday in the North East. The best army officer I ever and will ever know. He died fighting for his country.
We take solace in the verse of the holy Quran that said. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un (Arabic: ﺇِﻧَّﺎ ﻟﻠﻪِ ﻭَﺇِﻧَّـﺎ ﺇِﻟَﻴْﻪِ ﺭَﺍﺟِﻌﻮﻥَ ) which translates to "Surely we belong to Allah and to Him shall we return". Oga Salami as he was coldly called was a fine officer. His love, kindness and smiles make you think he is a civilian. We all know he has his military side. you can't have an encounter with him without smilling. And most importantly he was very religious.

You served in various foreign mission and came back safe and healthy. You once told us that you will rather die fighting than surrender or get disarmed by an enemy. That was how brave you were. The last time we spoke you said you are fine and we should keep praying for you.

You can never be forgotten because you will forever remain in our heart. May Allah grant you Jannatul Firdaus. Rest in Peace. May God grant you mother , sisters, wife and four children the fortitude to bear this great loss. Join me in praying for this fallen hero.
