Personally, I think Jose should have been sacked after the Southampton game. I felt at that point, all the rational arguments for him staying had been swept aside. You'd have to be remarkably dogmatic to think otherwise from that point on. I don't take pleasure from him being sacked, however, it was definitely necessary. The signs were there, I think there was absolutely no chance of him turning this around. Personally if you take the results away from Jose, the things he judges himself on, then there is little there to commend. His treatment of Eva Carneiro was bordering on misogyny and frankly, he lost the dressing room a long time ago.Whilst his statements in the media were the equivalent of trying to put out a bonfire with a can of petrol. Tactically he was all over the place, and to be frank, were it not for Hazard earlier this calendar year, it would have gone south much sooner. Sure the board should have signed players. Yes many in our squad have underperformed to a shameful level. Obviously, there is some disappointment here at player-power winning, but what other choice did Abramovich have? I understand why the Cult of Jose exists. Mourinho is a great manager, one of the elite four or five in the world, but he is struggling to remain relevant. To me, he is like the cinematic equivalent of Ridley Scott, or the televisual equivalent of the Simpsons. Great and glorious at its best, and excellent in short spells, but becoming less and less applicable to a changing game. Praise what he has done, but why anyone thought he was a legacy manager is beyond me. He never will be, and considering how he ruined and broke up all the most exciting parts of our team in his first 12 months with us, he never was going to fill RA's brief of fabulous football.[/b] 1 Like |

Praise what he has done, but why anyone thought he was a legacy manager is beyond me. He never will be, and considering how he ruined and broke up all the most exciting parts of our team in his first 12 months with us, he never was going to fill Roman Abramovich's brief of fabulous football. |

[b]From Ja606 Lets not forget a lot of the blame has to fall on Mourinho himself. His unbearable behaviour throughout the year must have grated on a lot of people in the club. His criticism of the medical team was frankly embarrassing, and highlighted his lunacy. He swapped and rotated some players, whilst irrationally sticking with others (like Ivanovic), almost as if he was throwing mud at the wall to see if it sticks. He changed the team sheet around, but never did he change the tactics, meaning every time we played, we were the same team out there, just with different faces. I think the real reason we failed so terribly at building a dynasty, is that we failed to create a team. We have a back four compiling of a CB playing RB, with a 35 year old captain and a right footed left back. That just demonstrates how the back four has been thrown together without any long term thinking. No wonder we are so vulnerable when teams counter attack. This back four is only effective sitting deep, otherwise its too vulnerable. However despite the pace of the wingers in our team, they are ineffective countering teams, as neither Hazard or Willian are direct players. How many times this year have we seen Hazard slow down the counter attack? The Midfield isn't built for countering, and the defence isn't been built for possession. The club built such a miss match of players, no wonder we keep losing. We won last season as we relied on a players performance to pull us through matches. Now, those players no longer perform. raffite: I am not comparing it with Mourinho's title. I am saying Chelsea was not a weak club before the arrival of Mourinho. The season before he came, Chelsea finished second in the EPL and reached the Semi Finals of the Champions League. Mourinho met a strong club and made good out of it. |

Arsenate: Some Blue fans blame the recent flop on the board not improving the squad of one of the most expensive teams that were Champions of the EPL. The same people are the first to criticize Arsene Wenger who works on a tight budget. The seasons he dipped into the bank and spent on Ozil and Sanchez, he won back to back FA Cup. raffite: Ancelotti won the double and was sacked the next season. Di Matteo won the Champions league and Roman sacked him the next season. This is beyond a Mourinho expectation but the ambitions of clubs. Mancini won the FA Cup, the next season he win the Premier League, the next season, we sacked him. |

TheGoodJoe: Check the examples you gave and you can't compare any to the impact, achievement and hype of Mourinho as far as Chelsea is concern. Mourinho and Chelsea mean the same word in the hearts of true Chelsea fans. |

raffite: I am not comparing them to Mourinho. I am saying the club was not weak. Are you saying a team that finished second in the EPL and reached the Semi Final of the champions is weak? Mourinho did not meet a weak team? Ancelotti and co. did good jobs at Chelsea but that did not stop Abramovic from sacking them. So why should it be different from Mourinho. He met a good team and made an impact there. |
