Some questions for you. Are you a Licensed Customs Agent at Cotonou ? If not do you use Third parties to effect your Clients's clearing on your behalf ? Do you require clients abroad to send you their Bill of Lading to you directly to enable you clear their cars at Cotonou even though they have not met you personally? How many days does it take you to normally clear and deliver your cars to Lagos/Seme ?

Why would you expect N/Landers abroad to trust you with their Shipping documents/Clearing fee's in Cyberspace?

Would you be happy to sign a Bond agreement before commencing any Auto- transaction with anyone based abroad here? (i.e in order to mitigate against non-performance,risks and fraud,etc ).

Im not a licensed custom agent in cotonuo because im not a cotonuo man, im a Nigerian

I have a registered custom agent partners in cotonuo that we worked together to perfect my business.

CAPITAL NO, i dont asked my clients to send bill of ladding to me directly,  always advise them to send the bill of ladding directly to their relation in Nigeria and that person will come and meet me in Badagry and we wil visit cotonuo to check on the car and start necessary thing on time after the inspection,

If it s a duty paid car, it will be delivered same day it arrives seme, but if it is not duty paid car, it may be delivered  3days or more dependin on the road, before we cross in cars that we did not do duty papers for, we will make sure that our uniform men are on duty that day.


I dont force my clients to trust me, I only play my part and if God signed that they will do business with me, cool, I only tell them how i operate and if they like it, they will trust me and if they are not confortable with me, they will look for someone else, im not the only agent on Nairalander,

Let me talk more on trust, the issue of trust is what I can not explain fully to you because at times it baffle me when some of my clients from abroad send money directly to me to buy cars for them without knowin me personally, to be frank with you, im scared of doin business with people abroad because they are the most fragile clients, I hav to be very carefull with them, secondly they are not here to monitor how things are goin on, you know at times, benin custom or nigerian custom may hav problem and little delay will chip in, how do you want me to convince them, ? and at times the money they send might not be able to get their car, because exchange rates and others factors affect the prices of car, how do you want me to tell them to send another money, that is why i always want to them to send someone to represent them to badagry.


CAPITAL YES, i can sign it  because its my job,  I have some companys in France that send cars to me and they will give me time to find buyers for it after sellin it i will have my own shares, we are on agreement and i signed all the necessary papers they want me to sign and since then, God is in control,

I live in the uk and will be coming to Naija soon. A 2000 or later model Bmw 3 or 5 series is ok by me for use while I'm home. I can get one in the uk for around £1,200 (+ or -). Should I consider shipping to Naija considering more money would be spent on shipping, clearing and the steering wheel change from RHD to LHD? or with the combined cost, would it be cheaper to buy from Naija or Cotonue? What is your advice?

Its left to you to decide sir, the cost of shippin it down to Nigeria with conversion and others will not be up to buying it at cotonuo to be sincere with you, maybe like 200k different, but if you need it urgently, you can just come and pick one here at cotonuo cars market and maximum after 2 days, your car will be at your door steps in nigeria, but if you choose to ship from UK, atleast you will have to wait for 6 weeks for shippin , clearin down to nigeria and convertin it from RHD to LRD before it will be delivered to your door steps.

Thanks for your quick response. Can I ask if the car I bought is a little older than 10yrs, will you be able to clear for me at Cotonou. I have a 1999 Peugeot 406, I might as well ship home.
