A thought: back in secondary school in the 80s and 90s we brought provisions to school and got "chanced" by senior students our lockers were "jacked" and our boxes were torn and "raided". Whether we like it or not these were petty acts of greed, stealing and thuggery that even transformed to "odu" - dealing trinkets, compressors, Mercury and pumping machines and graduating to massive exam malpractice and cultism in universities. My question is: the people who did these things as teenagers are now senior bankers, religious leaders, senior public servants and captains of industry. Are some of these bad behaviours learnt in boarding house and university campus not playing out in the real world? If we think that the generation of people born in the 1970s and 1980s would save Nigeria from the rot of the outgoing generation, perhaps our antecedents should point to an even more troubled future - what do you think? Save for God's Grace.......
