1. Yabatech



Yaba College of Technology - Popularly known as Yabatech was established in 1947 as an immediate successor to Yaba Higher College. It attained autonomous status in 1969 by virtue of Decree 23 which granted it the mandate to provide full time and part-time courses of instruction and training in technology, applied science, commerce and management and in such other fields of applied learning relevant to the needs of the development of Nigeria in the areas of industrial and agricultural production and distribution; and for research in the development and adaptation of techniques. Yaba College of Technology is the first higher institution in Nigeria to establish a Centre for Entrepreneurship Development, with linkages with the world of commerce and industry.

Yabatech Motto is a latin lingua franca. From the Loughborough University motto which means Veritate, Scientia, Labore (Latin: By truth, by science, by labour), Labore et Veritate here can be inferred to mean - By Labour and By Truth.

The University of Lagos – Popularly known as Unilag. The University of Lagos was established on 22nd October 1962 on the authority of the University of Lagos Act of 1962. The University was established in order to achieve rapid industrialization and development after Independence as Nigeria needed to invest in the training of a professional workforce.

The University of Ilorin, also known as Unilorin, is a university in Ilorin, Nigeria.

It was established by a decree of the Federal Military Government in 1975 and is a federal government owned tertiary institution of education located in Ilorin, Kwara State, western Nigeria. University of Ilorin was one of the seven institutions of higher learning established by a decree of the Federal Military Government in August, 1975.

The University of Jos (UNIJOS), abbreviated as Unijos, is a federal university in Jos, Plateau State, central Nigeria.

What became University of Jos was established in November 1971 as a satellite campus of the University of Ibadan. The first students were admitted in January 1972 as pre-degree students with the first Bachelor of Arts degree program begun in October 1973. In October 1975, then military government under General Murtala Mohammed, established the Unijos as a separate institution.

Obafemi Awolowo University – Popularly known as "Great Ife" is a Federal Government owned and operated Nigerian university. The university is in the ancient city of Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria. The university was founded in 1961 and classes commenced in October 1962 as the University of Ife by the regional government of Western Nigeria, led by late chief Samuel Ladoke Akintola, and was renamed Obafemi Awolowo University on 12th May 1987 in honour of Chief Obafemi Awolowo (1909–1987), first premier of the Western Region of Nigeria, whose brainchild the university was.

Her Vice Chancellor is Professor Idowu Bamitale Omole.

Ladoke Akintola University of Technology aka Lautech. In 1987, Governor Adetunji Olurin, then the military governor of Oyo State, received to a request by the Governing Council of the Polytechnic Ibadan to establish a state university. He set up a committee that, in 1988, recommended the creation of the university. By March 13, 1990, Nigeria's federal military government accepted the state's request; the edict establishing Oyo State University of Technology was signed on April 23rd 1990. The name of the university was changed to Ladoke Akintola University of Technology after the separation of Osun State from Oyo State.

Ahmadu Bello University popularly known as ABU is a Federal Government Research University located in Zaria, Kaduna State. ABU was founded on October 4, 1962, as the University of Northern Nigeria. The University is named after the Sardauna of Sokoto, Alhaji Sir Ahmadu Bello, the first premier of Northern Nigeria. The school has a slogan that says “ABU naturally ahead of you”.

The Vice Chancellor is Professor Ibrahim Garba

Her philosophy - “The first duty of every University is the search for and the spread of knowledge and the establishment of the nation."

The Polytechnic, Ibadan generally regarded as Poly Ibadan is a higher institution of learning in Ibadan in Oyo State, Nigeria, founded in 1970. The institution and other polytechnics in Nigeria were established to provide alternative higher education to University education particularly in the area of technical skills acquisitions.

font=Georgia] Auchi Polytechnic was founded in 1964, first, as a technical college which was a gift of the British government to the then Midwestern Region. The extant law establishing it assigned to the institution the task of producing well trained and highly skilled middle level manpower for the national economy in the areas of Engineering, Applied Sciences and Technology, Environmental Studies, Management Studies and Art and Industrial Design. In 1994, the Federal Government took over the Polytechnic from the Edo State Government.

The University of Benin – Popularly known as Uniben was founded in 1970. It started as an Institute of Technology and was accorded the status of a full-fledged University by National Universities Commission (NUC) on 1st July 1971. In his Budget Speech in April 1972, the then Military Governor of Mid-Western State, Col. S. O. Ogbemudia (then also Visitor to the University) formally announced the change of the name of the Institute of Technology to the University of Benin. The University is also famous for ground breaking research work with other universities around the world and with both local and international bodies such as USAID, Ford Foundation, UNCF (United Negro College Fund), RMRDC (Raw Materials Research & Development Council of Nigeria) amongst others in the areas of Agriculture, Public Health and Engineering to name a few.

The Delta State University, Abraka - Popularly known as Delsu. The creation of Edo and Delta States in August 1991 and the conversion of the main campus of the then Bendel State University, Ekpoma to become Edo State University in December 1991 necessitated the establishment of an autonomous Delta State University, Abraka on 30th April 1992 by the then Executive Governor of the State, Olorogun Felix Ibru.
