Is The Niger Delta Struggle An Ijaw Struggle? by Wbong: 3:10pm On Jun 09, 2009
I have watched with dismay as gradually and finally?? how the Ijaws have hijacked the Niger Delta struggle. Why do you think this has happened? It doesn't matter that they have devised all sorts of means to push home the needs of the region, they have only succeeded this far because the Ijaw Group is unitied:So far, they have presented one unified front and spoken in one voice. I doubt very much if the entire Ijaw population is a big as the population of Akwa-Ibom and Cross River State or the igboids in rivers state. We have lost out simply because the cluster of languages in our dear state have been used by us to our detriment. We are one people who speak variations of one language and not different and distinct people living together. The earlier we realise this and wake up to our responsibility in and to the region, the better for us and for our future as a people.
